I went to Eclipse for brunch and was shocked to discover an excellent craft beer destination. I had no idea what I’ve been walking past all this time! Seven or eight taps, all great locals: 2 Schlafly, Morgan Street, Six-Row, 2 Boulevard (one is always the Smokestack Series seasonal), Perennial and Urban Chestnut. Bottles are all classy too, no crap macros at all: New Belgium, Old Rasputin, Left Hand, Bitch Creek, Ska, Founders, Bell’s, Rogue, Stone, Bear Republic, North Coast, Brother Thelonious. Top-shelf imports: Guiness, Strongbow, Riessdorf, Hitachino, Unibroue, Chimay, Dupont, Westmalle, Rochefort, Houblon Chouffe. Food is exquisite. Servers are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and generous with complimentary tap tastings. Decor is pretty awesome. Low-slung black leather couches wrapping around brushed metal tables, surrounded by vintage and comissioned sci-fi artwork and lit display cases full of antique space toys, blaster guns, etc. It’s a high-art martini lounge meets tongue-in-cheek schlock, true Joe Edwards style. Prices are very fair, especially considering the high quality of food and drink plus all the freebies. I can’t wait to go back. Obscure craft beer in the loop until 2 am, what’s not to like?
