Visited the store during their BBF festival. I liked how the store appears with all the dark wood. A very nice selection of beers from all the sweetspots in the world. I bought an Alesmith IPA which I got from their basement because they only wanted to have one on the shelf and then store the rest. Prices for some beers were a bit high. Would love to go there again when it’s a bit less crowded.

Visited during the BBF 2011. The ambience surrounding the mill is very nice. Very rustic and true to Bodegraven’s rural setting. The beer selection was really excellent. Of course there were lots of specialties from the different breweries attending the Beer Festival, but the other stuff was also impressive. Of course a good selection of De Molen beers, but also Danish (I bought my long-time want Amager MurpHill), Belgians like Struise and Westvleteren, a good selection of American beers. Good policy on their Alesmith IPA’s - only one on the shelf and the others in a dark and cold basement so they weren’t exposed to heat or sunlight. Good one. The De Molen and Belgian beers were decently priced, although some of the Americans and especially the LoverBeers were high, even in comparison to Danish standards. But a really cool store overall.

Amazing beer shop with beers that are quite hard to get in NL. Maybe it’s a little bit expensive, but it’s almost imposible to compare the prices of these beers to other stores. Great variety. Some beer are a bit too exposed to sunlight, standing directly in front of the window. Visited during the festival so some of the staff were temporary volunteers. I’ve heard some of the staff working there on regular days doesn’t know too much about the beers. Everyone kept cool even though it was quite a busy day. The place looks nice and authentic. If it was closer to my home i would visit it more often. Be sure to bring enough money because it’s so hard to pick. A true candystore for beerlovers.

6 taps (all their own brews). Quite staggering bottle selection of De Molen and other rarities (DK/IT/NL/BE/US). We were the first visitors on Sunday 1pm. Some people came later for lunch. Excellent service. And their beer shop has just incredible selection of best brew from Europe and USA. A must.

Very nice place. the service is slow but the staff is friendly and polite. Food is overpriced , i took the dutch menu (Dutch shrimps, dover soles, Semolina pudding & berry juice for 31€, fried chips were offered) anyway dover soles were great, the dessert..no! I love his beer, and drink a De Molen beer on tap in De Molen brewpub was exciting, the price of the beers on tap is fair: Donder&Bliksem (boheems pilsner, 5,5%, 2,75€); Wit&Waarachting (ons eigen witbier, 5 %, 3€); Heen&Weer (tripel, 9,2%, 4,25€); Hel&Verdoemenis (russian imperial stout, 10,2%, 5,25€) were the top. Hot&Spicy (10%, 3,25€ proefglas) for me was better than mikeller texas ranger. Bed&Breakfast (coffiebitter, 4%, 3€) the taste is so intense, to match with a dessert or to drink alone. In the beer shop you can find his production and all the best brewing as well (Founders, Mikeller, Haandbryggerie, Nøgne, Amager, Westvleteren). i’ll go back in the future

Nice decor to this place. the have a nice outside patio and an inside that is very rustic and has a nice ambiance. The service is a little slow to north american standards but that seemed to be a typical european service here. Definitely a premier stop for any beer lover. They do serve samples of the beers which was quite nice. Had a very nice time here. Recommend a stop. Also the chicken club was really good. Very unique if you ask me. The bottle shop here is very nice too. Lots of selection of their beers and some american craft. Also saw the westy 12 here

I’m very sad to write this review. This place has changed so much over the years. I remember the first time I was there some years ago it was an amazing experience. The crew was very friendly, ambitious and knowledgeable about the brewery. I remember Menno was there and he even gave me a private tour through the brewery, while he was teaching one of his staff to do the guided tour. Also we got some great tasters and went home with some regular brews but also some special brews (which I think is something you might expect when visiting a brewery). Now sadly this place has changed in a very negative way... Staff is not friendly at all, they don’t seem to care about what they sell, they are only interested in you if you want to buy things, the atmosphere is below freezing temperature and the shop, although offering a lot of nice beers from abroad, doesn’t offer anything special from De Molen beers. Sad sad sad I won’t go back anytime soon (not that anyone cares about that ;) )

Service was good, sometimes the girls were a bit too focussed on the table they were serving, and not looking at the other tables, but in general no complaints. Food however was a disaster. I had duck breast with "confit" from duck leg. The piece of fried polenta was way too salt. The "confit" was more like deep fried rather than slowly cooked in goose or duck fat, so it was completely dried out and hard, really inedible. The breast was cooked completely dry, so instead of tender rosé meat, I had chewy brown meat which tasted like nothing. A shame for such a good product. To be honest, my table mate’s steak was very good. Then the beers... Sebletitje says below they have draught beers from 2.25 to 5 euro. Their own cheapest beers I saw on the menu started at 5.25 euro, then 6 (for the triple) and up from there. I have to admit they have a nice selection of other beers as well, not just promoting their own. Also pretty pricey, but since a lot of them are foreign rare beers, I can get that. I can however have no sympathy for the fact that their own cheapest beer is 5.25 euro. That is plain rip off. At the end of our visit, we went to the store and bought some beers. Not cheap, but every one can find something nice within his own budget. However, once I got home, I noticed one beer was already 5 months past it’s expiry date and 2 others will expire in just a couple of days. That’s just not cool. So in all, it was quite the disappointment for me. There’s gonna have to be quite some changes before I ever go back there.

Visited the brewery for tasting and lunch. The beers were excellent and our server was extremely friendly and knew a great deal about the beers. The food was great and not overly expensive. The store however was a bit pricy since a bottle of US beer cost much more than a six pack back home. Well worth a visit.
