Years ago this same location housed Gentleman Jim’s, a brewpub with a couple of their own beers and a solid local following. At some point Jim’s stopped brewing and was solely a bar. Eventually it closed, and within the last year or so Elaine’s has opened up. For around here the taplist is solid. 16 taps I think, almost all craft, with their entry on beermenus being updated on the regular, so it’s easier to just check that to see what’s been on tap recently. Prices were very good, I think it was $5 for a pint (yes, actual pint, not 10oz or 12oz) of Spider Bite Boris (and may have been less due to happy hour). Basic pub food, lots of fried stuff and burgers. Food was good, and rather inexpensive. Service was solid and bartender was friendly. Crowd is pretty much all locals and regulars, some macro drinkers, and some craft folk. Around me I’m actually not really that bothered when I see a macro or two on tap. It gets the macro drinking people in the door and doesn’t push craft down their throats, allowing people to eventually just be a little adventurous if they want and try new things. Good local place.
