This is not a beer bar by any means and is definitely more of a restaurant. Staff were friendly but the tap list is weak (mostly "English" imports). The did have DC Brau on tap, so that’s what I got. Not worth stopping by.
Wanted to find a reasonably priced place for a sit down meal near the Mall - this worked for us. Decent British pub food. 3 local beer plus 3 hand pulled selections (and for some reason, Mahou) - not exactly cheap though. Was a good choice while doing the tourist thing with the family.
Chalk this one up to being tired and uninformed. Saving grace is that the atmosphere is not all that bad and they had a few local beers on tap, but, as others have stated, overpriced. Bartender was harried, with little personality, and not much more than token recognition. Food was a real turn off, especially the club sandwich. Do some research and find much better than this place.
Spacious place located in downtown D.C. We grabbed outdoor seating which was really nice on this pleasant Spring day. Tasty food. I had spinach artichoke dip followed by fish and chips. Hand pulled Fuller’s London porter and ESB served in Fuller’s glassware - always a nice touch. Other than the Fuller’s line, there’s really nothing exciting or noteworthy on the beer menu. Some Samuel Smith, Young’s, and Chimay offerings in bottle format. One can find these much cheaper at any decent beer store. Overall, a fun place and definitely worth a lunch stop.
About 16 beers on draft. Dominated by English and Irish brews, with a few standard US micro brews, and of course Miller Lite. Quite a few bottled beers ranging from Corona to Chinay to Bells Two Hearted IPA. A pleasant enough place if you are in the hood.
Food okay pub faire, but the tap list is a bit on the weak side. I was happy enough that they had DC Brau’s The Public on tap, so thumbs up on that end. They seem to close relatively early in a pretty dead part of town for any kind of nightlife, so this is pretty much solely a restaurant, not a bar.
Not sure why this is in our database as the tap list is the same as almost any bar in the entire district. Maybe six things on tap including Irish stuff even though this is supposed to be English themed. No real cask ale. Food is terrible and extremely overpriced. Some friends took me here one time and within about two seconds I knew it was a big mistake. I see no reason to go here ever and would actually lobby for it to be removed from the DB. Embarrassing.
