Nice place in front the gare de Lyon in Paris. The place looks like as a typical ’brasserie’ in France with PMU and typical food. The beer selection is nice, the selection is great and all the people will find his beer, the selection is for all the taste. Service is good and clean. The price is very good for Paris. About the bottle selection, it’s not so varied but you will find a good selection from US, UK and The Netherlands. I will really recommend this place is Paris!
Update after the First Paris Beer Week:
The food is good with a high value for money. Nice service and fresh food, just what I’m looking for.
During the festival, L’Express de Lyon made a soirée with 15 Mikkeller’s on tap, with a good price for this kind of beer. I really appreciate the Romain’s work! Nice place and nice barkeepers! Continue on this path!
J’aime!
I really liked this place. A laid back pub with a mix of punters..many watching the football when I was there. It looks like there’s 2 or 3 taps dedicated to local micros and the remainder from mostly continental Europe. Nice selection overall and the French beers were enjoyable. Well worth a visit.
Been here quite a few times. They lack any French beers, but some great imports on tap, De Molen, Emelisse, Brewdog, Tool. There are normally 4 or 5 solid beers to get stuck into, in a chilled environment. You get a seat normally and they will bring the beer over. Don’t expect too much interaction about the beers, it’s a varied clientele. May be better than la Fine Mousse, depending in your mood and beer preference, being close to metro on line 1 helps too
I went on a Thursday afternoon. Place is well located near Gare de Lyon. Ambiance was calm and music wasn’t too loud. Funny mix of local and strangers of all ages. Some come for beer, other for food and some for betting (?). Servive was good and smiling. Selection is nice: 15 taps including De Molen, The Kernel and some nice french breweries. Small but decent bottle selection too. Value is decent and probably good for Paris (first place I rate from Paris, so I’m not sure about prices yet). Nice place that I will certainly revisit.
Express de Lyon is located close to the gare de Lyon railway station. I really loved the ambiance of this place. It has a blend of a traditional Parisian cafe with a touch of a beer geek ambiance. You have people coming here from all walks of life here : to play the lotto and sip some coffee or a classic beer(Leffe, Chouffe), you have the suited up business men coming in for a quick bite and beer, some siping a quick coffee before boarding the train and then a lot of beer geeks from all over the world too. They have a good mix of classic Belgian beers, local French beers and a good selection of craft beers from around the world (De Molen, Buxton, Mikkeller, Brewdog etc. ) The serve some yummy food and have a good bottle list too. The prices are very reasonable compared to Parisian standards. Visit this bar to experience a completely different ambiance accompanied by some excellent beers.
