Decent selection of beers. Cozy atmosphere and decent food. Good place for dinner or a snack and a couple of beers

Farren’s is a good place for a burger and a beer. A small, hole-in-the-wall bar in downtown Champaign, Farren’s offers a decent menu of bottled brews, as well as four or five taps. While you won’t find any rare or house brews, you will find many high quality breweries represented. My main complaint is that their selection seems to be largely unchanging, and they don’t rotate in new taps frequently enough. The food at Farren’s is good. I go if I’m willing to have a burger and fries or their house tacos. Both selections are quite tasty. If a daily special is to your liking, it’s usually a good bet. Their soups are very good, as well. Unfortunately, the small size leads to a small menu...as I said, IF I want a burger or tacos, it’s a good bet, with the off chance that one of their wonderful specials will catch my eye.

The beer selection here is hit-and-miss. Sometimes they have great stuff on tap but other times they are out. Don’t seem to place beer as a priority. The food, however, is great. Best burgers in town. Nice people, too. Get a Motherlode Burger or a Russell. Yum.

This place is by far one of the best places in town to eat and they offer a pretty solid beer selection for what they have. Definately have some food here. Come for the food and have a beer while you are at it. You will be happy.

Tucked away off of the street and once inside its nothing special to look at, but the food was outstanding. My wife had a delicious looking salad and my son & I had two of the best burgers we had eaten in a while. Beer selection, both tap and bottles was much better than average. Whatever style you’re looking for, you will find something to drink to satisfy you. I’ll stop in again for sure!

Perhaps best known for its burgers, salads, and panini sandwiches, Farren’s offers a reasonable selection of European imports by the bottle and about 5 decent taps. You won’t find many macros. Tap lineup generally consists of beers from breweries such as Fuller’s (London Pride), Paulaner, Sierra Nevada, North Coast, Bells and Rogue (Dead Guy is almost always on, and Shakespeare Stout is there on occassion). Entrees are somewhat up and down depending on who is manning their small kitchen, but pub fare is a safe bet. The entrance is a bit hard to find, so look for the sign set-off from the street. Expect it to be smokey and a noisy (terrible acoustics) around dinner time. Lunch is smoke free. Good mix of crowds.
