Rather large brewpub/restaurant, very classic, lots of wood, typical German Brauhaus ambiance. Selection is limited to their Alt and their delicious 1838er, but the beer is really good and rather cheap as well. Didn’t check the food, but it looks very good. The staff is as expected, still friendly but rather busy, so not really relaxed but you don’t have to wait long. Good place to get some hearty but not too expensive food and enjoy good, traditional Alt.
Located in Oststrasse, in the centre of Düsseldorf but exactly in the Old Town, this spacious brewpub serves their decent beer (regular and 1838 editions) and quite tasty traditional German food - I had some really delicious Spießbraten). Other features are typical of Dūseeldorf brewpubs: polite and not unfriendly staff; beer served without warning, etc. Not exactly cheap. Still, it is not as crowdy as Zum Uerige and it looks, feels, and tastes better. Definitely worth a visit.
Pretty nice place, with a small inner garden, and a few tables outside on the sidewalk. Okay beer and I appreciate them having a version with modern hops (cascade & galaxy). Swift and friendly service.
First the good stuff - pannelled wooden venue and the Alt. The 1838er was not quite as good. If you don’t want to see a rant, stop reading right now. As the service was cunty. Firstly it was very hard to get served at all, and then it was a fuckup and they were arrogant about it. We ate there, you see, as the food looked good. On the menu are "2 Bratwurst" and "3 Bratwurst", a good 3 cm apart. I said "Zwei Bratwurst", pointing at the "2 Bratwurst" line. He repeated "Zwei Bratwurst". And then returned 10 minutes later with 6 fucking bratwursts. Cunt charged me full whack, wasn’t prepared to accept the possibility that he may have fucked up. We’d ordered other food too, there was no way we could eat it, all we’d wanted was a light snack, so we had to leave it. I hate leaving food, but I also hate missing my train to the airport and my plane, and small things like that. 2 ticks and unwanted food for 30e. If he wants a tip, I’ve got a tip -get a different fucking job, you’re useless in this one.
Spacious brewpub, dimly lit, with a high ceiling and lots of wooden decor. Very nice waiter. We did not have food but it sure looked and smelled delicious. The beer thay have is obviously fantastic, both the regular and the 1838er version. Would happily visit again.

Visited while on holiday nearby. Large spacious brewpub. Apparently this is the real brewery, the other location is just a bar. Typical German style brewpub interior, lots of wood, bricks and quite robust. Large outside terrace in the back. Service is ok, not the friendliest but who nowhere, perhaps he was just having a bad day so I’ll cut them some slack. At least he spoke English, which is a big plus as my German is horrible. A surprise to us was that they came to bring a second glad of beer just before I had finished my first one. I’d like to see that as great service, but my girlfriend wasn’t too happy having to stay longer and watch me drink more beer. Anyway, all things considered, like most of those Düsseldorf brewpubs they’re nice to visit once, but due to the fact they only have one beer -their own altbier of course- available it’s not really interesting to come back more often unless you love the style or live around the corner.
