Visited Friday, 29th December 2017 on my Düsseldorf-brewpub-tour. All those Altplaces should have a higher Rating, but I just cant give selection more than 5 if there are only Maximum 2-3 choices.
Schumacher Stammhaus is a Little wlak outside of the oldtown. Classical place, good beers, Service okay. Would go here again just for a good 1838er.
2016 august. The least polished alt brauhaus of Dusseldorf, gave me the impression of being the most authentic experience, because of its location further from city center. Place is divided into two areas - one for having a dinner, another just having a stange of alt. No bar, no chairs there, just high stalls to stand by. Went there. You get schumacher in top notch condition there, also local Kobes where kind enought to explain, that they had another alt, brewed with american hops too. Oh, and Kobes who work there, I guess the average age of them ~45, which gives you impression, that things in this place is kept how they should be. Went for a quick snack in fricadel with onions. The best experience regarding alt in Dusseldorf. Classic place.
The more classis place of Schumacher. i respected the fact that there's a very old person working here, which is great to see, but this was in fact the most unfriendly service I had in Germany. Choice is of course, like everywhere else, limited to 1-2 options. Not worth going for specifically, better go to their other place ( same beers, but closer to the others )
One of my favorite Altbier brewhouses, located a little outside of the heart of Düsseldorf's old city. Schumacher is one of the best Alt available on the planet, and it is best from tap in the brewerys outlet, accompanied by some decent, traditional food.
Rather large brewpub/restaurant, very classic, lots of wood, typical German Brauhaus ambiance. Selection is limited to their Alt and their delicious 1838er, but the beer is really good and rather cheap as well. Didn’t check the food, but it looks very good. The staff is as expected, still friendly but rather busy, so not really relaxed but you don’t have to wait long. Good place to get some hearty but not too expensive food and enjoy good, traditional Alt.
Located in Oststrasse, in the centre of Düsseldorf but exactly in the Old Town, this spacious brewpub serves their decent beer (regular and 1838 editions) and quite tasty traditional German food - I had some really delicious Spießbraten). Other features are typical of Dūseeldorf brewpubs: polite and not unfriendly staff; beer served without warning, etc. Not exactly cheap. Still, it is not as crowdy as Zum Uerige and it looks, feels, and tastes better. Definitely worth a visit.
