Went on a Wednesday after work. Neat place to go, but parking is a problem. Parking deck is across the street to help. The server I had was knowledgeable and very helpful. I had the New York and it was cooked just to order and the desert was excellent. Able to eat outside on the sidewalk which was nice since the day was warm and in the shade it was nice to talk to passer-bys
Since I was in the area and had a bit of time to kill, I continued my south bay beer tour and stopped in here. The plus is that thereís a parking garage just down the street for the train station, so you can probably find parking here (and it was free, though there may be some hours restrictions on that).
This place had like a slightly more depressing Hooters/Tilted Kilt vibe to it in that itís a mediocre bar/brewpub serving mediocre food but there are attractive young women serving said food and drinks in somewhat suggestive outfits.
There were a handful of house beers on tap and a sampler is available. I dumped most of the beers out. The only real semi-enjoyable ones were the rye IPA and imperial stout. Not all that cheap for what youíre getting either.
Service was not terribly good. Maybe they could tell I was a cheapskate that was just going to stop in for a quick flight and leave. Oh well. This was most likely a one time stop for a variety of reasons.
This has gone under several changes since it has been Stoddard and it has finally come in too its own.
The atmospheres is very nice large 2 level brew house with large bar open kitchen, lots of TVís around, and a general welcome atmosphere. The also have a large patio area in the back.
The quality is good and had improved since they have changed the menu to that of a brew pub.
Service was very good and the wait staff is attentive, and able to answer questions very effectively.
Selection is good, not a ton of items but what they do have they do well.
A good value for what you get
Finally rating the brewpub that is closest to my house! It is actually a pretty nice space, right on Murphy street in trendy downtown Sunnyvale. Too bad the beer is so mediocre. Prices are reasonable, didnt try the food, and the staff is helpful. Only four of their own beers on tap when I was there, plus two of their bottles.
Visited with a friend on a brewery hopping trip down the peninsula a while back. We didnít pick the best stops that day.
Stopped in during off peak hours, maybe 4pm. I heard that they had some decent beer so even if the place is a chain sports bar I figured Iíd give it a try. The positives are the patio, the hot girls working the bar, and the abundance of seating (at that time of day). The food was OK. The downsides were the beer, the service, and the prices. $10 for 4 samplers, extremely negligent service, and sub par beer. Scroll past.
This place is in a really cute little street, but the place itself is only OK. Had about 6 or so of their own beers, which were pretty good, plus a few guest taps (mostly common imports). Food was fair at best. Waitresses wear little plaid skirts and tight little tops, which I guess is supposed to make up for the mediocre service.
Iíve visited a couple times just to try out the beers, and each time the place just feels a little off for a brewpub. There have only been four beers on at a time, and mostly typical styles like stout, porter, pale, and hefe. There are at least as many guest taps with SA, SN, and some macros being the extent from what I could tell. Not exactly a beer place, but a sports bar that brews beer is what I would call it. The beer quality has been pretty good with only a couple that were lackluster. The bartenders donít seem to know a whole lot about beer and arenít the most attentive. You canít buy single sample glasses. I wanted to try two and the guy made me get the whole four-beer sampler with two of each for eight bucks. I should have just bought two pints.
Visited the brewery today. Overall I actually liked the place. Good TV spread. Ambiance was fair. Service from the bartender was horrible but the servers were great and helped for the bartenders short comings. The selection of beer was not great. I thought there would be more than 4 beers available and no sampler option. Value was decent, but a bit on the expensive side.
