Located in the historic Fitger’s complex that houses additional shops, restaurants, a coffee shop, Bridgeman’s stand, and a homebrew shop. The interior has a bar area with some seating and there is an additional seating off to the side. I did not check to see if they had a patio. The offer a flight of 7 with 5 standard and you pick the remaining 2. Service was really good and helpful as this was our first visit to Fitger’s. The also had a couple of guest ciders on tap. I would definitely recommend visiting here.

This brewpub is a historic gem to Duluth that contains a hotel, multiple bars and restaurants and even some shops. Their main restaurant is very inviting and busy. It offers outdoor seating as well. They frequently hold events but seem to not update their social media to inform others about them. Although I have never had any of their rare highly rated beers, I have had many of their flagships which have always been pretty solid. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced. This is one place I always try to go to when in Duluth.

A classic brewpub in an old hotel with a great feel. The place is comprised of a number of small rooms, two contain bars and the rest are used for seating. Place feels like it hasn’t changed in years and has re-purposed an even older bar to give the place a great feel. A small patio out front on the sidewalk as well. Place was hopping but was served quickly. They had about 12ish beers on tap and I didn’t notice if samplers were available. No food on this visit and the prices seemed inline with the area. A true classic IMO.

Re-rate 3-13-16: It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Fitgers. Certainly 1-2 times since my initial rating on 2004. But apparently long enough that they have had time to add a secondary bar across the hall and a merchandise and growler shop. The original space is virtually unchanged from my very first visit, and that’s a good thing because it’s got an aged, rustic feel to it. It actually feels smaller to me than it did originally. Although they are still making some of the same beers, like El Nino IPA, the breadth and quality of their beers has improved markedly since the early days. On this occasion they had a number of beers on tap in their "Constellation Series". Had the wild rice burger which was outstanding as well as a hummus appetizer that featured quite possibly the tastiest pita bread I’ve ever had. 10-29-04: This is a great place for atmosphere and location (inn and brewery shopping complex down by the water in downtown Duluth). They have an excellent selection of brews. However, their beers can be hit or miss. Definitely a place for any self respecting Ratebeerian to visit if in town.

Ok, so we go to a lot of breweries/brew pubs and having lived in Minneapolis for almost 8 years, we finally made the trip up to Duluth. We stayed at Fitger’s Inn so the bar was a must to check out. Showed up around 1 pm on a Friday and the bar was full. We weren’t eating to we waited patiently for the bartender to have some time to grab us some beers, didn’t have to wait too long. Grabbed our beers and head upstairs to overlook the scene. The bar was fine, a little dark and dated but not a big deal. Some seats opened up so we went back to the bar and chatted with the bartender for a while, nice guy. We ended up going back later that night and then again the next day. Overall, it was fine. I found the beers to be ok with no real shining stars. El Nino and Starfire were solid. Food was decent pub fare.

Friday night dinner on a holiday weekend. On a rainy evening, this place was packed, but our 20 minute wait for a table was eased by readily available pints at their side bar. I didn’t know this brewpub was just one slice of a nicely renovated historic brewery complex. The surrounding small shopping mall is pretty cool. The brewpub itself is cavernous and full of nooks and crannies. It seemed a bit dark. But despite the crush of people, our server was attentive and knowledgeable of the brewpub’s very long list of available beers. The food was standard tavern fare, and went down well. The beers ranged the gamut of styles, mostly good. With such a broad and constantly changing lineup, a dud or two is to be expected. (Brewery #649)

I always stop here when I’m in town or passing through. Lots of different beers styles at any given time and great food. Wild rice burger is awesome. The building is like a maze but fun to wander around in.

Cool place right on the lake in Duluth. It is a bit of a maze to find the brewery and its interesting that the brewing equipment is kind of strewn throughout the building mixed in with a bunch of different shops and restaurants. Beer is excellent. The waitress I had on my most recent visit really did not know much about the beers themselves, which is kind of bad. The whitefish burger was superb, as were the belgian beers they had on tap. Don’t forget to stop by their store one floor down where you can get growlers and over-priced tshirts!

Good number of taps available.Good variety and selection. Very good beer. Great food (awesome elk burger). Surprisingly good value. Quick friendly service. Busy. Tucked away in a sort of mini mall.
