Centrally-located brewpub offering 8 or so taps and a limited bottle selection, they tout food pairings (hence the name), but the menu didn’t look very inspiring. They make a wide array of different styles, most of them New World/Western in design. I sampled a Pilsner and drank a session IPA and found them both decent but lacking character.
Nice facility with bar, table and outdoor seating. Excellent service with a good selection of beers on tap (for NZ) that include about 6 brewed on premises but most are guest taps. Beers include some international selections.
I really enjoyed this brewery I spendet 8 hours over here and had 5 tasting paddels, almost all off there beers were good. the own brewed special beers were also very good. This is a pub were you should spent time to enjoy the crafty 40 different taps!
I liked the beer list but found the printed menu to only list about 20 beers. After awhile I noticed some chalkboards on a darkly lit wall with another 15 selections. In general the bar area is very dark and it can be difficult to get a beer if you’re on the wrong side of the barrel. The inside space smelled a bit like a wet dog. Cool outside patio seating!
So I came here for a quick spot of lunch, since they had a fixed paired food and beer menu on for the craft beer week around Beervana. I ended up staying for about five hours, since the brewers were in getting a tour. The TreHugger brewers spotted me and adopted me, buying me beers left and right. Nice people. Oh, and the bar itself was fine, brewing kit bang in the middle of everything. Good tap list amd the food was OK. Nice place.

Now brewing on location - four house beers and cider. Huge circular wall of taps with many familiar beers but also special and seasonals too. I always find beers here I don’t see elsewhere around town, so bonus points there. The venue itself i find to be dark, tacky and lacking soul. It’s not the most comfortable beer spot in Welly.
Hard to get a read here. At first glance just a load and slightly crass bar but saved through a very solid tap and beer list. Not crazy geek (ie don’t come here looking for Scandi RISs) but rather a good cross section of establised NZ beers. Music too loud but service good. Looks like they are setting up a brewery inside (?) so assume they will brew their own in due course.
