Was recommended to me after an offhand comment of wanting a decent beer and a respectable crab cake for dinner. The wife had just received her major award from her employer today. This sounded like a good place to go. Metered parking lot. Which is ample. Two stories include a nice upstairs happy hour bar. Friendly brewer...who focking knew my local brewer. Sometimes the world is small. Food was very good. Get there early. No one complained that I wandered about the gift shop with a beer in hand. Oh joy.... there is a beer section in the gift shop... it’s like they were reading my mind. Good beer. Crab cakes of note. I’m betting this place gets noisy.
Finally got to check this place out thanks to Travlr! Street parking along with a paid lot next door. Combination restaurant/bar with a general/gift store, pretty unique. Sat upstairs at the bar, pretty good and friendly service. Solid selection of a dozen or so house beers available in tasters and pints. Above average beers with a few nice gems. Tasty brewpub food with burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, etc. Pizza is solid and the fried chicken sandwich was fantastic. General store has a small but solid selection of craft beer to go, both bottled house beers and other craft beer. Pretty good value all around. Well worth a stop if you’re nearby or on a DC brewery tour around DC Brau.
Dinner stop while avoiding the conference dinner hell. Pretty interesting place with a two floor restaurant and a little kitch store wiht a number of bottles for sale. Food was solid, beers were pretty Meh from what I had. Service good though. Pay parking available, cheap and takes credit cards.
Great place, especially the store. In the latter there’s a great selection, with some odd Maryland stuff I’ve never heard of before. Lots of singles as well for tickers, and a bunch of discount old beers for sale. Some rare German/Belgian stuff as well. Friendly staff, both in store and restaurant. In the bar, the atmosphere is a little odd inside. Though it looks cool on the outside, inside is kind of like a glorified Denny’s - not a lot of character. Very friendly staff though. The beers were ok. I was expecting them to be a lot better as the ones they usually send to D.C. locations I’ve tried happened to be better. In any case it’s a must visit if in the area.
The perfect setup; brewery, family restaurant with excellent food, growlers to go, five and dime style retro store full of toys, trinkets, glassware, beer, wine, etc. The family keep begging me to bring them back to this place (not normally the case with a brew-pub). Beer is good, food is too. Wish they were closer to my home. Pay parking M-Sat, but its pretty cheap (compared to surrounding areas).
This place is pretty awesome, its a store, brewery, and restaurant all in one. Store: very kitchy, lots of fun items to buy, including beers and make your own six packs. They sell their own beers, and many many others. Brewery: They make their own beers on site, lots of good ones. Restaurant: great value, very good. Pile of mussels for appetizers is a must, any pizza or burger will do. I tried the flight of 10 beers, for about $14. Awesome value.
Funky place. Pubby upstairs, restaurant downstairs, connected to a kitschy general store with above-average bottle selection. In-house beers are not very good. But their flights are priced at $1.25 per sample, which is crazy cheap for DC area.
Location is not in the most beautiful part of the DC metro area but the place was quite pleasant. The bar upstairs had ample seating. Around a dozen of their own beers on tap, all were decent, none were extraordinary. The food we ordered was very good -- definetly way better than ordinary brewpub fare. The shop in the same buiilding was a fun diversion. It had the biggest selection of hot sauces I have ever seen.
Hard to rate all this in one rating . Upside , there is a brewery with mediocer beers, highway-restaurant feeling, good service and good prices . Food was nice as well . Recomended to pass by . Downstairs , there was a big shop , with some beers ( some ones I though were pretty nice to find ) , cider ( and Ice cider, which I haven’t found anywhere around ) , wine, etc . prices downstairs were on the high side of honoust, especially given the location . Good place though
