This place is unbelievable! What an unbelievable selection! Granted, the majority of their store is wine, but the beer selection that they have is top-notched. They have top breweries like Stone, Weyerbacher, Duvel, Ommegang, 3 Floyd’s, Alesmith and so on! Service was outstanding...the owner really knows her stuff! If you’re looking for a beer shop that has quality over quantity than From The Vine is the place to shop!
I GOT EXTREMELY LUCKY! My nom took a trip to Columbus and so I said will you pick me up some beer while your down there? I was thinkin of AleSmith! So she calls me up and tells me where shes at and I send her to the nearest liquor store which happens to be From the Vine. Once there "while on the phone" she asks me what I want? And I say ask the employee whats the rarest beer they have? And the through the phone I here Westvleteren 12 and 8!!!!!!!!!! My mouth dropped. I told my mom buy it, buy it immediately! And now I hold both in my lap. What a great mom for spending 28 dollars a bottle. I love you mom!!!
I found this place while on a business trip from Chicago. What a selection! I found cases of FFF’s, Alesmith, Stone, Hoppin Frog, Weyerbacher and too many others to list. They have about 8 cooler doors filled with 6pks, 4pks and plenty of singles to choose from. They also have a ton of warm sixers, 4pks, bombers and singles to choose from. Prices were right on (for Ohio) and the owner (Jaimie) was the coolest beer chick I think I’ve ever met. She really knows her stuff! I could have talked to her for hours but my girlfriend was getting a bit bored! Anyway if you’re in the Columbus area this is the place to go for great beer. Their selection may not be as large as other shops in the area, but when it comes to quality they have it hands down!
I stopped into this store for the first time on Friday night. What I stopped into was an unbelievable beer tasting. I had no idea this was going on. Instead of just picking up a few things and leaving I decided to stay for the tasting. The cost was $5.00 and they had some top-rated beers out to taste. I’m talking, Weyerbacher, Bell’s, New Holland, Harpoon etc. As for their store selection, I think they have one of the best selections (quality wise) in the city! They carry all the Sone varieties, Lagunitas, Ommegang, Bell’s, quite a few Trappists ales, alot of Belgian’s and too many more to list. If you’re in the area, or even not in the area this shop is a must to check out!
This place has hands down the best beer selection that I’ve seen in Ohio. They may not have as many beers as other shops but they do have the best selection when it comes to quality beers. Their service is right on!
I can’t believe that I have been ordering beer, paying incredible shipping charges, when this gem was 20 minutes away. I would agree with a majority of the raters here. You might find more beer elsewhere but you are not going to find as many of the beers at the top end of the RateBeer.com ratings anywhere in Columbus like you will at From the Vine. Look at the RateBeer.com best to be found in Ohio and you will find about 80% of them at From the Vine. They have an especially good selection of IPAs and Stouts. Friendly and very well educated staff. By my third visit they knew me by name.
Probably my favorite place to buy beer whenever I can get to this end of town. The sophisticated ambiance of a fine wine shop, but with a monster beer selection. The most interesting part is that they don’t dedicate a whole lot of space to beer, but they maximize the space they do have. They use about 1/3 of the space most of the other good beer stores around town use, but still manage to carry some really good stuff you can’t get anywhere else in the city. Jamie the owner is incredibly friendly and she will give you some great suggestions.
I found out about this shop on this website. I stopped in here for their beer tasting Friday and the place was packed. Never seen a turn out for a beer tasting like that before. The owner says they usually get between 60-100 people that come through the door. She was quite personable and took the time (even though the store was busy) to show me their beer selection and helped me pick out a few different Belgian brews. If you’re looking for quality beers such as Alesmith, Unibroue, Lagunitas, Rochefort etc this is the place to go.
Nice little shop in a plaza on more of a residential road. Large selection of wine but a GREAT selection of beer. Yes, as others have mentioned the selection is small, but what they carry is high quality. Picked up an 07 and 2011 Pannepot, an 07, 08, 06 Stone Vert Epic and a couple of Epic beers from Utah. The owner is very knowledgeable and very talkative and friendly. Highly recommended.
I had to stop here because this store is so highly rated. It was a bit out of the way and my GPS sent me to someplace in Westerville, but I eventually found it. When I first walked in I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place because all I saw was wine. The girl at the counter (found out later she’s the owner) asked if I needed help and she took me over to the beers. At first I thought there was no way this was the place because it was only one aisle of beer. After seeing the selection my opinion changed. They have about 8-10 cooler doors dedicated to six packs and singles and they have about 4-5 wooden racks of bombers, singles, 750’s etc. They carry 3 "bad" beers..bud, bud lt and miller lt, everything else is high quality. I walked away with, Evil Twin Yin, Soft Dookie, 3 different Fantomes, Ommegang Zuur, Hop Dam, Mikeller’s Our Side and a Dugges 1/2 Idgit. All in all this was a great stop. Service was great, the owner knows what she’s talking about when it comes to beer. If you’re looking for maybe not the largest selection but the selection with great quality beers, this is the place to go.
