Smallish place with a lot of beer, including a bunch of interesting stuff. 3 taps when I visited, a handful of tables, deli sandwiches. Nice BBQ place next door. Could make an afternoon of this place very easily. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are very high, even considering the area.
One of the few places to grab craft beer in the Rockville area, behind the main drag on Rockville Pike. This is very close to the Twinbrook metro stop. Next door to Urban BBQ. Place is pretty cramped, lots of beers on high shelves throughout the store. A good amount of beer in fridges. Decent Belgian selection with Scottish, English beers. Can find some interesting stuff here. Only problem is the price level here, which is out of this world. Completely off the wall, 70-100% higher prices than normal. Laughable. Will never need to come back. If you are buying beer here, you are getting ripped off.
A nice deli meets beer store in a nondescript Rockvillle, MD strip mall. The selection is decent, prices a tad high, but singles available, a few taps for those who want to grab a pint, and Italian style sandwich. Next door is Urban BBQ, a great BBQ joint for those close to the Twinbrook Metro. Visited Sept 2010.

These guys just opened a little while back. Maybe 6 months to a year. The owners are very nice, and big fans of beer. They keep improving, they always have something to sample, and they are making an effort to bring craft beer to MoCo, where it is sorely, sorely under available. Prices are a little high, but not exorbitant. Selection is continually improving, and they now have beer on tap. They also serve food, thought I haven’t tried it.
**Update - I’ve had the food now (Meatball Monday!) and it was good and a nice price.
If you go here, be sure to go next door and try one of the best BBQ places in the D.C. region.
Very cool little place here. Was just walking to the metro from 7 Locks and stumbled upon what I thought from the outside was a beer store. It is and more! Great pub/store vibe in here. A large and odd international selection, with Brazilian and Argentine titles here. Friendly service and friendly locals. Lots on tap, mixture of local and regional, with a focus on good stuff. Would recommend the trip out here.
Tucked away in a strip mall. You walk in and instantly are amazed. Lots of bottled beers to buy in 6 packs and singles, but also a couple beers on tap for sampling or pints. You can drink any beer there for a corking fee. The staff is very friendly and gave us samples of everything they had on tap. Prices were a bit high compared to other places. Nice fun place.
Kind of an interesting shop. Lots of great beers, relatively speaking. Prices are high --- this is more regional than anything else, however. They have a number of refrigerators of beer as well as a small bar where they have a couple of beers on draft for consumption on premise. Overall, worth the stop if you also swing by Urban BBQ next door (which is very good).
Great service, good selection, iffy location pretty much sums up this store imo.
The staff the 2-3 times I’ve been in have been more than helpful, downright chatty and cordial in fact. They often have a beer available for tasting as well. Having a tap in a ’store’ is pretty cool as well, nice intersting touch and get an an additional point for ambiance than the behind a stripmall location really warrents.
They opened after I lived a few blocks away ... so it never really had the opportunity to be my regular, though it would have been.
What a wonderful find! The owners know and respect craft beer and try to keep their shelves filled with it. All Dogfish Head beers can be had, along with several regional beers, such as Clipper City. Gillys is also a deli where one can avail themselves of tempting sandwiches and artisan cheeses.
Don’t let the dreary strip mall location fool you. Check it out and keep it open. Rockville and the thirsty citizens need a place such as this.
Small place. Selection is decent, but won’t knock your socks off. Prices are a little higher than average. What I like about this place: taps on site--have a pint while you browse; the food is pretty good--I recommend the brie and ham sandwich with maple syrup, it’s ridiculous; the staff is super friendly, conversational, and knowledgeable, and they are happy to break a sixer for you if you just want to take a single; finally, you can sign up for a very handy email newsletter that keeps you posted on new arrivals and rarities, and in-store events like tastings. Very enjoyable.
