Nice bar, with a ton of local Charleston and regional taps available. Was there just for a few quick afternoon drinks with the wife. Missed the fact they had sampler sizes until after ordering our first round. Nice staff at the bar with a few locals at the time we were there. Not sure what locals think, but it's great for visitors who might not want to venture out of the city.
Ambiance: kicking around King Street before a rehearsal dinner, needed to get out of the heat, found it by accident. Sports bar/frat bro feel, but glad that didn’t stop us. Service: Friendly enough, though slightly ambivalent and on the slow side, although they weren’t busy. That said, we had 90 minutes to kill so we weren’t complaining. Selection: Came in from out of town, so I was super excited for the selections. TONS of taps of local stuff I wanted to try. Unfortunately I couldn’t make my way through them all, just two flights’ worth. Food: We just shared an order of the loaded tots. Not bad, good bar fare. Value: I don’t remember it being too expensive. Overall: Great selection, fine food, not too pricey, average service, average ambiance. Would definitely go again next time in town, just to work my way through the beer list.
Charleston Beer Works feels very much like a sports bar (and a drinking rather than eating place), with television screens all round, framed shirts on the walls and a games room at the back where you can play pool and basketball (!). They have 30 to 40 taps with a good range of local beers and seasonals.

Sports bar feel and ambiance here. Fairly bro-ey. Had a rotating selection of local beers on tap, though when I tried to get a Westbrook One Claw, the bartender said "party foul" when it turned out to be kicked. Pretty much set the mood for the evening. Not a terrible place, but not something is necessarily seek out again.
Actually didn’t plan on going here due to the so-so rates but we walked past and thought why not. Very glad we did. As expected the interior has a sports bar feel, but don’t let that put you off as the beer more than makes up for it. This is a great place to get COAST and Westbrook seasonals that don’t hang around for long. On our visit they had Westbrook Mexican Cake & Gose! Brilliant. Staff were rather friendly also. Well worth a visit.
One of many solid places within close walking distance on or around King Street. This place was basically just a sports bar in ambiance, and catered to the college crowd quite a bit (at least during the duration of my visit). Decent tap selection for sure, heavy on locals. Enjoyed some Westbrook and Holy City but didn’t stay overlong, as the ambiance was a bit of a drag.
Came in here on a Wednesday night to catch a game. Good for that- plenty of screens around. L-shaped bar with some booths and tables. Game tables in the back. Slow night- C of C was on break. Good tap list; 8 local handles plus more regional and national craft taps. Solid list. Didn’t try the food. Prices were fair. No small pours but 4-beer samplers were poured. Great location on King- only issue is parking. Overall a solid place to get a beer. Worth checking out if you’re in the area and have time.
Longer L-shaped bar with a sports/college bar vibe. Pop-a-shot and some pool tables in the back. A good amount of local beers with typical craft favorites. Filled up with college kids on a weekend night when school wan’t even in session, I would imagine this place gets pretty rowdy when school is in session. Pretty cool place, not necessarily a craft beer "destination", but if you’re bar hopping in the area it’s definitely worth stopping in, and if you’re looking to party and get weird, I’m guessing this is a good place to do it when school is in session.
