Visited in the middle of winter in 2014. Publican let us in early. Visited twice after that. Great beer on tap, the Galway Bay beers were great. Surprised to see a lot of America stuff like Sierra Nevada there too. Loved the big peat fireplace, it was very welcoming that January.
Great craft pub in Galway owned by Galway Bay Brewery. Small, fills up quickly on Fridays/weekends, can get loud, but it has a nice atmosphere. Good selection of local and international craft beers both on tap and in bottle. If you want to find craft beer in Galway, this is the place to visit.
A mus tvisit in Galway. Very close to the city centre but also close to loads of tourists. Very crowded. But the beer selection is good with focus on Galway Bay Brewery. No food available. A must visit in Galway.
The wife and I stopped in here while we were exploring the city. We noticed that they had an advertisement for a Galway Bay tap takeover. When inside, we noticed a pretty lengthy row of taps, several of which were Galway Bay, but they also had Founders Blushing Monk and Boon Gueuze on tap and they claimed to have a sour bottle list. When I asked for it, though, the bartender just told me about the Boon he had on tap. We ordered a sampler paddle of Galway Bay beers and a pour of the Boon Gueuze, and just sat down and enjoyed the atmosphere. It’s a very nice beer bar. Lots of wood details and plenty of brewery signage all around. I would definitely come back here if ever in Galway again.
Old traditional pub just over the river from the town. Much quieter on a Sunday afternoon. Great range of beer on show from around the world.
Bottle list looked good but focussed on the draft offerings.
Seemed popular with beer crowd. Nice place.
The best place for good beer in Galway. Small, with a good mix of talkative locals and curious tourists. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, the best selection in the west of Ireland and a great place to try some of their own Galway Bay Brewery stuff.
