Fairly standard Aussie CBD corner pub same as you will find in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle, etc.etc.etc. The only point of difference is all the taps are James Squire. Including a couple of seasonal/ in-house brews we donít get to see in Sydney. Very busy when I was there (Sunday lunchtime). Needlessly complicated bar stools!
Nicely decorated, you can tell they put some money into this like all JS locations. Beer list was small with nothing out of the ordinary even insofar as their own beers go. Sort of pointless to come here unless you are a fan of JS beers, but why would be if youíre reading this site?

Didnít try the foods, decent atmosphere, a normal pubs that exclusively serves James Squire beers fresh from the tap, which doesnít really means a lot unless your a big fan of them.

Visited twice, first time was on July 25, 2013. Second visit on July 30. First time only stayed for one beer, next time had a tasting paddle with 6 samples. Plenty of taps of James Squire beer. Visible brewery in one end of the place, on the 25th seemed like they were brewing as well. Plenty of people in there both times. Also very centrally located and an easy walk up from Federation square. Nice fast service and no problem getting a paddle even though there were plenty of other guests around. You marked which beers you wanted to try on a paper, then they arranged them in the order they wanted you to sample them. Didnít eat. A nice place to be able to sample plenty of the J.S. beers. 6 samples in the tasting paddle for $15! Great value!
Extensive range of James Squire beers on draught. Not a bad option on a tour of the city.

The Brewhouse has a relaxing and friendly atmosphere and is quiet in the afternoon. The Bartenders i spoke with seems quite knowedgable about the beers. Before & after a "Footie" match the place is usually packed. The Brewhouse has 8 craft brews on tap, 3 are exclusive to this brewhouse only. Something for every taste. I first visited back in 2007. Still has the same quality brews. Good pub grub is available, although you have to order at the bar. The restuarant next door has a more extensive menu, but have to wait for the brews. Worth a stop if visiting Melbourne.

Can get pretty busy on weekends. Staff are friendly and happy to give information, though itís often too busy for more than a few words. Usually have quite a range of the Squireís beers on tap including some seasonalís not bottled. Staff are happy to give samples of their beers.
