Big store south of downtown Reno. Easy to get to. Lots of selection, highly weighted toward California and other western states. Be careful for the dates though! Very careful. It's frustrating to come home with something that is more than 6 months old or older.

My first visit to a Total Wine… very impressive. As soon as I walked through the front door I easily identified the location of the craft beer and took a few minutes walking up and down the aisle getting a few for what was where and how prices were. Obviously the selection is incredible. Tons of locals and regionals, as well as some of the bigger broadly distributed offerings. I focused on the locals and got a few bottles from Brasserie Saint James (each was $2-3 cheaper here than at the local grocer), as well as a several other local brewers. Prices were much better on bombers & 750’s than the singles… build your own six pack could get pricey. I could have spent a long time here, and would have loved to, but it was time to head north. I’d definitely stop here again next time passing through Reno.

Similar to the other Total Wines. Good selection of mostly West US beers. Good prices.

Typical TW. Beers are on the right, with one full long aisle of singles, and one full long aisle of sixers. Bud Lite Clamata and Shock Top are both stored in the "Craft Beer" section, a practice which is actively deceptive, so service points off for being dishonest. Other than that, selection is large.

Stopped here when I was in Reno on a business trip, and the selection was so good that I ended up checking a bag home with a ton of great beer, Their selection is really good, although with an understandable west coast emphasis. Sure it’s a big warehouse, basically, but it’s worth it for getting your hands on a bunch of quality beer!

i think having a BIG retailer like them has helped get brewers in the region that were not here before. That said, I don’t trust the date on anything hoppy that ain’t bottle dated. stuff collects dust. they never know when or usually IF they are getting a specific product. So the selection can be good, but is better for wine and spirits than beer. Beware if you know something ain’t fresh.

I’m not from the area so I can’t compare it to any other local places. Its beer selection has a varied domestic and international selection; not as much as it’s sister store in Roseville, CA (my local). What it does have over that store is ten beers on tap. Bring your own growlers (original label doesn’t matter) or buy them there. They have the growler fillers that purge the O2 with CO2 prior to the beer going in. Meaning the beer keeps longer in an unopened growler. Plus they have great service.
