Lovely ancient place in the city centre.
Basement from 18 century rebuilt to a nice cousy brewpub. After a quite horrible period, this Place have rised from The Ashes. The beer sene is now absolutely acceptable. Also som nice ciders now and then. And have started to have som food available.
Mostly their own beers on tap. Around 7-8 +/-. A takeover now and then, and possible to get a tutored beer tasting. Call them infront.
I kinda liked this place. Located in the central parts of Halden, only ten minutes drive from the swedish border. The bar is placed in an historical basement and is really nice to visit. There is also an outdoor setion with wooden furniture. Eight of their own beers on tap, and also two more taps. Their own beers can be sampled in 0,2 l-glass (20 NOK) which is a big plus. No food available. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
A wonderful place to have a brewpub, except that the vaulted cellar gets rather noisy. In the summer time you can enter the patio as well, enjoying a beer or two made at the premises. We got wonderful service when we visited, and even though the beers are too careful, it’s a place I recommend if you’re in the area and need a beer. And of course it helps that the other pubs and bars sell macros only.
Fantastic place to place a microbrewery, in a vaulted cellar, stone walls and white chalked roof, makes the interior perfect for a good ambience, and a lot of noise when crowded. Also a nice patio on the outside for use in the summer months. Well wort a small detour.
And the beers, what about their beers, well there is a some room for improvement, but overall, average.
This modern brewpub is located in walk-down cellar that had been used as a dungeon in the early modern period. Offers quite a good number of their own beers, eight of them available during the RBNG 14. The brews were generally well kept and cared for. Beer-dedicated and service-minded staff. Has got a patio for beer enjoyments on warmer days. Except for a noisy resonance the ambiance was just great. Easy to find in a huge white building at the market square in Halden (visited on Valentine’s Day 14.02.2014).
New microbrewery in a historically interesting vaulted brick cellar from 1600-something. The acoustics are not good though, can be quite noisy just from people talking. A fairly decent selection of house brewed beers, but most of the beers have potential for improvement (less yeastiness in flavour, more hops). The staff is friendly and service-minded.
