Located on a large central street. The name of this bar suits it well, I had absolutely no idea as to what concept they were going for, Bar? Restaurant? Bistro? They were also serving tapas which didn’t look the part & same for panini. People popping in for lunch. “Kitchen Beer” beers are the most interesting part of the selection, I have seen bottles of those elsewhere. 6 of them available including 2 specials. Their beers are acceptable. Rest of the menu was uninteresting stuff like common Fuller’s and Blue Moon. Standard mad high Basel prices. Not really of that much note really. They take cards.
Sat outside on the street. Their house beers were decidedly mediocre, not off but not very good either. They have a couple dozen other beers too. We went for a Marriage Perfait, which was the best of the day.
Huge glass frontage, open plan space and airy wooden interior with a high ceiling. Nice view on the Steinenvorstadt, a main pedestrian street with a lot of boutiques, cinemas and bars, nicely situated in Basel (not far from the main station and the nicest attractions this town has to offer). Indeed, no Wi-Fi or credit cards being accepted, making it annoying in some situations. There is a nice range of newspapers and magazines though, in case you are there on your own and feeling a bit bored... The staff was quite busy complaining about ungrateful customers while I was having my beer and I didn’t really want to bother them too much. The prices are rather high, even for Basel standards. Paid 9.50 CHF for 4dl of the Kitchen Brew IPADIPA from tap, which seemed to be one of the best deals. I recommend you to try beers from this brewery from tap at this place if you happen to be in Basel and haven’t tried them yet. Otherwise, not really worth a detour.
A planin bar with 4 own beers on draft and 17 bigger craft beer brands. The food is very basic, panini’s salami plates, and nachos, but it gives you a bit of sustenance. It is expensive even for a Dane. They have no WiFI??? is this a 4th world country, since most 3rd world countries offer WiFi. And they do NOT take credit cards - again this would ONLY happen in a 4th world country. Only go here for their 4 own beers with cash and leavy as fast as possible.
Tried a few beers here today. It really annoymed me that they only accept cash (!!) and I had to trek back to my hotel to get cash while my beers got warm. Not cool. But in a central location with nice stuff on tap.
