NOTE: CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RECONSTRUCTION (2017). Much larger than the downtown location with a much larger beer selection. Nearly all beers available as singles. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

The eastside location has a bigger and better selection of beer than the westside and is displayed better as well. Lots of hard to find stuff here priced at the going rate or a bit higher. Everything is warm on the selves, so I am a bit leery about how fresh some of the sensitive stuff is, but the best selection in Bloomington I would have to say. The gourmet/natural stuff is extensive as well albeit pricey.

This is the better of the 2 Sahara Mart locations. Ambiance is that of a rundown gourmet grocery store. Skip past all of the expired food and the beer is in the back of the store. Selection is massive: 2 long shelves of American and 2 long shelves of imports. Just about anybody who distributes in Indiana can be found here. Check dates on the IPAs, the distributor is slow to get them to stores. Prices are the best in town, possibly in the state. Service is fine, but the beer guy keeps odd hours. Overall, the best stop in Bloomington.

A grocery store on the east side of town with a good selection. My main concern was with the freshness of their beers; I wouldnít shop here for APAs/IPAs. The employee was friendly; he didnít know much about beer though. He wasnít their beer guy to be fair, but the beer guy wasnít working either. Alright, but there are better bottle shops in the area.

Slightly larger selection that Sahara Mart West. This is a great place to find rare beers. The only problem is that they sometimes keep beer on the shelves too long, so be sure and check the date on the bottle.

Fine alternative on the East Side, especially if the sixers of Dragonfly at the Big Red arenít going to cut it. Two vast rows jam-packed with craft, one domestic and the other all-sorts international. Both thoughtfully and extensively assembled. Among the regional and local goodies (and the usual national brands), there were some real gems to be found: Rivertown lambics and even a couple bottles of 3 Fonteinen! Excellent spot, and you can grab some nice food and tons of wine too.

This is the best place to come in Bloomington for local and new releases. Be aware that some things can sit for far too long - bottles of a 5% ABV brown ale from a brewery which closed two years ago - but if you pay attention to "Best by" dates the selection is diverse. One row is entirely local Indiana beers. Across from it are all the US bottles. Another aisle is Denmark, Germany, Belgium, etc. In short if you canít find something here you are trying too hard. Stop by Big Red for the common stuff and then visit here for your real shopping.
