So this place has a LOT of bottles. I guess I could have read the one rating and realized that they had no taps but I was a bit surprised to see a bar and nothing on tap. Not that big a deal really since they have a crap load of bottles available in a long fridge opposite the bar. I picked out an Orval, which happened to be almost exactly 2 years old and on Leap Day (bottled February 29, 2012) and BeerJames went with a Grimbergen Dubbel. My Orval was over the hill sadly. Malty, starting to show moderate oxidation signs, not bretty. Kind of a let down. James’ Grimbergen was considerably better. The bar did not have proper glassware for either beer so we got to pick and since I don’t like the chalice shape I went with a Duvel glass.

We split a brisket sandwich which was really just a French dip. It was pretty good but very plain. Pricey too. The service was good since we were about the only ones in there. I’d come back for an Orval and a sandwich again, especially since I need to come back when the wine bar across the street is open for business (we were there at 2 and they open at 4). This is also a stone’s throw from Slater’s 50/50.

Walked past this place as it’s just a half block or so from Slater’s 50/50. The only reason I really looked in was they had a sign outside advertising "over 200 different beers". Normally closed on Sundays, but they were open to take advantage of St. Patrick’s day. Weird vibe inside, not sure exactly why, just strange. No draft beers available, but tons of bottles. Mostly your run of the mill stuff, but some decent imports from Germany and the standard Belgian stuff. Mostly California beers with some things like Great Divide mixed in. The food was meh and overpriced. At least they do adhere to the New York Jewish delicatessen tradition of providing enough meat on your sandwich to kill a small horse.
