Overview: Bungalow Joe’s is about ten minutes from my house, has a decent beer selection, is an easy place to take the kids and has a good quality/value ratio. Thus, it gets a good amount of my money. It’s located in Highview, within Louisville metro, but still maintains it’s own local character as a sleepy little town right off the Gene Snyder Freeway. In terms of ambiance, it’s your typical American sports restaurant, with local jerseys on the walls, TVs galore, booths lining the walls and bigger tables in the middle. There’s a patio, and the bar area is segregated from the main dining area by a walled waiters station.
Service has always been friendly and prompt, but if you ask a beer-related question, they’ll have to consult the bartender. On my last visit (this past Friday) I was handed a beer menu generated by Untappd, which did feature the beers available, but also featured lots that was previously in stock, so... might cause more confusion/frustration than anything as you try to order drink after drink that’s not available, which can only be checked by your waiter going back to the bar halfway across the restaurant. Selection always features a few KY taps, but nothing you won’t find around town, with the rare surprise. Otherwise, it’s regional/national craft, none of it out of the ordinary. Food has always been of a respectable quality; I usually dig the loaded wings, which are great bar food. Prices are about what you’d expect with the occasional drink special, usually on things like Alltech (Kentucky) that you likely have no desire to drink.
PROS: Good, family oriented place for a bite + beer. CONS: Service usually has to defer to others on beer questions; selection is pretty ordinary; pours are all in a shaker- no samples, different measures, etc. OVERALL: Just about the definition of a locals-only place. Unless you must tick every place possible when visiting a city, you’re better off avoiding this spot as a craft beer nerd.

The only r season I give this rating is they don’t have a lot of craft beers. That bing said this is a pretty nice place. More resturant type seating when you walk in and the around the back is the bar area. They have and outdoor patio. Lots of TVs to,watch your favorite teams. The food that we had was very good. Typical pub fare but the wings were tasty and the Santa Fe egg rolls were very good. Service was very prompt and Brittany was a lot of fun even though she was busy. Will be back.
