Updating rating again. Had some great brews but going on a half hour waiting for my food. I’m ready to just go. Update again: manager comped my food ($4.75) without me raising any fuss. So good job. New rating: NO LONGER 1/2 PRICE DRAFTS AT HAPPY HOUR. So I had a love relationship with this place, then a hate, now I’m working my way back towards love. Had great service numerous times and then one crappy bartender ruined it all and I completely stopped going. I’m going once in awhile now - and the time to go is between 3-5 (for their half-priced drafts and $5 flat breads). A shitload of bottles, 50 taps, some rare of both. Flights are available but are not discounted to happy hour prices. I can usually find a handful of beers on tap that I’ve yet to try. Off-premise bottle prices seem to vary depending on who is tending bar. Sometimes they’re half-menu-price and sometimes they’re "no discount for off-premise." Avoid the short bartender that wears way too much makeup.

UPDATE: Been here a bunch of times, unlike what my earlier rating suggested. The trick is to know when to come. The beer prices are still steep but no longer the priciest in town. There are lots of discounted times during the week, such as half price on all draft beer 3-5PM weekdays. More deals too but I don’t want to divulge too many secrets! Also, the selection has improved a bit since my last review. Rarities are creeping in now and I can nearly always find something new. A regular stop that I will miss once I move away!.

Nice looking restaurant, a nice change from the shithole restaurants that previously occupied this space. In a little strip center so parking is ample. Family friendly but its near UVA so there’s also some of that crowd. Nice staff, friendly, helpful and generally knowledgeable. Good selection of mostly common beers, but they occasionally get something less common. Food is solid. The prices are decent on the food but astronomically high on the beer. They give half off growler fills on Thursdays, but growler fill prices are so high, half price is more in line for most things. I’d be here a lot if it weren’t for the obvious price gouging.

Went here with a small group while in town for a conference recently- it was the nearest place to our hotel. Nice corporatey environment. Service was good. Food was pretty tasty. Big, decent selection. On the pricey side.

The place is dark. Many servers and a handful of bartenders make the service very quick. Usually they can answer any questions I throw at them as well. Their prices are a little ridiculous, but the offer many drafts, some of which are quite special. Their offerings on bottles and cans is also very extensive. I’ve also eaten there a few times and the food has always been good.

This place is just across the street from strip mall hell, but fortunately has its own parking. Inside is kind of classy, with a nice patio with a fire in the middle. Long, dark wood bar. Sample paddles available in sets of four. You write your choices on a postage stamp sived piece of scrap paper, good luck with that. Prices are shocking - it was the first time I’ve seen growlers for more than $50, of course that was for the 10% stuff, but still. Didn’t try the food. Worth a look if they happen to have interesting tap offerings. Their website beer menu was out of date, though, so you take your chances with that.

Located in a dinky strip mall not far from the law and business schools of UVA. Pleasant, if corporate, ambiance. Low-lighting, poured concrete, plenty of screens showing sport. The service was surprisingly good. My barman identified himself as a home brewer and was quick to provide tips on the local scene. The selection’s relatively interesting, though certainly not up to the standard of Beer Run. They have a lot of beer on draft and in bottles (frankly, I worry if they can turn it all over), and some of it’s fairly eye-catching, better than what most paint-by-numbers places would offer. The prices for beer are varied. A patient customer can actually find some pretty good deals. With that being said, some of the bottle prices are ludicrous. Overall, I’ll certainly be back, especially for their half price growler promotions.

Awesome special, half price growlers fills on Thursday, tap takeovers and steal the glass every Tuesday. $5 steak night every Monday. 50 taps, all rotate on a fairly regular basis. Definitely one of the best beer selections in the area, bottle prices are a bit high though.
