Beer is in the back center of the store, one of the few Hy-Vees I’ve seen like that, I believe its one the few with the old set up. Had a pretty good six pack selection, although the singles and bombers were a little lean. Prices and quality in line with other Hy-Vees.

They’ve been doing better since I first started coming here. Half an aisle of cold + warm beer section for 6 packs and another side with bombers and random stuff. Certain things stick around here for weeks that sell out at other places in a day. Prices are good for the town. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed them having a beer person on staff, but the people at the checkout are pleasant enough.

Last summer they still had cases of Leinie’s Original bottles for $10.99. Pretty good selection for a supermarket.

Doesn’t match John’s personable customer service, but it offers a broad range of micros and imports. And as Heemer notes, sometimes the prices are slightly better on the bigger micros.

If you are in the area, go to John’s Grocery. However, this place has vastly improved both it’s import and micro sections. They have the line up of Schlenkerla and Ayinger. Along with other German and English beers. They also stock Melbourn Brothers fruit beers, the only thing they have that John’s does not have. Prices on micro six packs are a little cheaper.
