annnnndd, because I am a place-whore, and I could walk from BJ’s to here, I did exactly that, following in the esteemed footsteps of the greatest place-whore of them all, Bobby. Yep, its a cost plus. Yes they have beer, even some decent beer (a few good Belgians on the shelves), but as Bobby notes, nothing is refrigerated, not even the DIPA’s, and god only knows what their turnover is. Plus they have an unnatural fascination with Indian Wells Brewing. Yuk.

I guess there aren’t that many liquor stores listed on Ratebeer in the immediate area but I really don’t understand the enfatuation with adding chains that aren’t really worthy of being added. Cost Plus has a little bit of everything which means there is a bunch of stuff that you wouldn’t normally see, but they only have a little bit of any one thing. So for someone that is looking for a specific beer there isn’t much to be had here. They do have a couple of random countries represented and they have some of the big name stuff like Racer 5 and Stone IPA but beyond that there isn’t much. Also, none of it is refrigerated. In total there were two end caps with beer on them and one set of shelves back in the “beer and wine cellar” in the back corner of the store. Up front by the entrance is a stack of boxes of some mixed packs of “beers of the world. In a third location there is a display of Chimay red bottles that are mislabeled. The signs say “grande reserve” and they’re about $13 per bottle (kind of ridiculous, especially when the white is sitting right below it at $11 per bottle), yet they’re clearly not the grand reserve. Oh well. I rarely have any business at a World Market anyway so I won’t lose any sleep over it.
