Big new BevMo in a big shopping center. Selection is a bit lackluster, but I guess that’s to be expected for a BevMo, particularly in this area. They had most of the usual suspects from Stone, Alesmith, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, etc. as well as the big name imported Belgian and German beers. Place was decently busy on a Saturday afternoon, but that’s kind of typical. Service and pricing were pretty much standard for a BevMo store (adequate, but nothing exceptional in any sense of the word). If you live out here, probably your best option if you don’t want to drive to La Bodega or even further to El Cerrito.

Brand new Bevmo. This can’t have been open more than a few weeks. It’s about the busiest Bevmo I’ve ever seen. That might be because it’s in a big shopping center or maybe because it’s new but I guess things are looking good for this location. The selection however isn’t very impressive. They have all the usual imports like Chimay, Rochefort, Orval, etc and they had a stack of Celebration ale that was about 6 weeks old already... Actually they had a bunch of IPAs that I enjoy but they were all out on the shelves. The only stuff in the fridges was the macro stuff and some of the big name stuff like Widmer, Pyramid, and Anheuser. I caught part of a conversation between a beer nerd customer who was trying to demonstrate how many beers he’s heard of and an employee that knew very little. Nice employees but like most Bevmo’s they aren’t the most knowledgeable about their own products. Prices were pretty good and I picked up several Vitus bottles for $2.66 a piece plus tax and CRV ($6 out the door for both). I won’t be driving all the way to Moreno Valley for this but if they stay this busy maybe the beers will rotate faster.
