Elbo Room

Taps: 8 | Bottles: 24
The Elbo Room has been a spring break destination since 1938. The Elbo Room and Ft. Lauderdale gained popularity when the movie " Where the Boys Are" with Connie Frances and George Hamilton came out in 1961. College students from all over the country came flocking to Ft. Lauderdale to bask in the sun and meet the girl or guy of their dreams. The phenomenon of Spring Break continued in Ft. Lauderdale through the 80’s. During the 1980’s, Ft. Lauderdale changed some local laws, and it made the city a bit less spring break friendly.

The last of the old Spring Break bars, where once the were dozens of them the oldest and last one standing is still there. Beers are changing all the time and service is horrible when it is full. It is a bit of a dive bar. It is old and run down. The bathrooms are frightening. There is always something for someone, and if you like loud music, legendary bars and history you will love the Elbo Room.
