Visited upon our arrival in Franconia. Chill place on the side of a main road, nice small garden out back to enjoy some beers. Quite a few locals were here enjoying the early evening sun. The beer was delicious, perhaps the best that day. Will return.
Visited on 19/7/2012, shortly after it opened for the afternoon, although there were already 6 or 7 locals sat around the bar. The Kellerbier served here is one of the best and was on top form. The owner displayed a rather dry sense of humour. Overall, well worth a visit on its own for the quality of the beer, and with the other beer attractions in Geisfeld and Rossdorf am Forst makes for one of the best day trips I have been on.
This is far from being one of the most charming brewery decors in Franconia. Quite drab, modern, soulless. Their Keller is supposed to be much nicer, but it was drizzling the day we came and so the Keller was not an option. The house Kellerbier is one of my favorite Franconian lagers, so I will come back to Geisfeld anyway. With Krug next door practically, it makes for a very rich village.
Didnít see the inside part but the keller is nice enough, shielded from the road by tall wooden fence. All self-serve, and slightly surly. The gravity barrel yields an incredibly delicious beer. They either ran out of their Aug rauchbier or never brewed it...but the kellerbeer is killer.
The small biergarten behind this place is a nice, shaded, cozy place to relax and enjoy some fine kellerbier vom fass or weissbier from the bottle, both of which are really excellent examples. The bartender is typically curt and quiet, the locals are pleasant, and the whole mood of the place is very tranquil.
