I originally visited this place years ago when I flew into Madison and drove to La Crosse. Nice thing about this brewery is it is right outside the airport so easy to find and convenient I must say. Rather large warehouse building with a huge bar area and restaurant side. I have gotten food here several times and its always good. Nothing real fancy but certainly above average for a brewery. Prices on food and beer very reasonable. Seem to have anywhere from 15-20 taps on any given day with a huge selection to choose from which is nice. Enough beers to keep anyone entertained for hours and appeal to all drinkers of beer. Staff is nice and friendly. I swear some are the same people from years ago which is nice to see. Good place for food and drink. Always seem to have something new here.
Large place near the airport. Production brewing combined with a brewpub. Large parking lot, pretty fully. Plenty of tables, including outdoor seating and a large bar in front. Fairly busy on a Friday, but not crazy. Bartender was a bit hard to get the attention of at times, but nothing egregious. All beers available as 4 oz samples. I generally found their beers to be solid, if unexceptional.
Large combined production brewery and restaurant located on the outskirts of town in a developing commercial-industrial park. I’ve not had anything remarkably good from Ale Asylum (ignoring some of my earlier reviews which can’t be trusted), but they seem capable of making solid low-to-mid 3-level beer, with the occasional goof up such as DMS in their lagers or husky malt. It doesn’t live up to the reputation it has gained among American craft beer fans, and their attempts at Old World styles leave a lot to be desired.
Cool brewery with a big restaurant space and an upstairs bar that looks like it would be fun, but even when I went on a Saturday night at 930pm, it was closed and dead inside. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, but not hard when you’re one of only 6 people at the bar. Beers were alright, nothing bad, just nothing stellar. This place has, or maybe had, potential, but who knows, maybe Madison is dead on Memorial Day weekend.
2013: Magnificent. Absolutely great beers. Very cool atmosphere and great service. It’s not in the center of the city but that’s why it was easy to reach by car. I definitely would like to visit again.
2016: And another visit. 15 beers on tap. Flight of 6 available. This time I wasn’t exactly as impressed. Slow and inattentive service but the beers are solid. Probably on our list next time in Madison area.

Large brewpub located near Madison’s airport. Nice place with high ceilings and a large patio. There were roughly 10 beers on tap. The beer was pretty well executed and solid all around. Flights are served in pretty big measures (something like 6-8oz pours!). The bartenders were friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I didn’t eat, but the food looked pretty good. Overall, a solid brewpub experience. I’d return.
Large, high-ceilinged space.....some pretty cool touches....didn’t have any food, but saw a lot of people enjoying it.....seemed a little pricey.....beers are solid as expected, and our waiter was pretty enthusiastic about my note taking, and even brought out some free samples of brews he liked, (even though I’d already rated them in the past)....still, a very nice bit of extra effort on the service....he seemed to be into it and enjoyed the feedback.....very friendly bunch of folks.....a really pleasant stop.
Huge place with a crisp feeling to it. A nice outdoor seating area and plenty of seating space inside. Bartender was friendly and pretty knowledgeable. The have 12ish beers on tap with large samplers available. Some bottles to go as well. The quesadilla I had was quite enjoyable. Prices were good overall but the sampler was a bit steep. Overall a really solid spot.
Huge place. Large two story bar, lots of swag around, kind of a sprawling restaurant area with windows of the brewing areas. About a dozen beers on tap. All well executed and enjoyable. Bar staff was a little passive. Flight was a little pricy at 6 for $15 but it is a crap toon of beer. Did not try the food. Plenty of parking. Overall a worthwhile stop.
