Stopped by here at the very end of our German pub crawl. This place was packed on Saturday night at 8:00pm, so we were lucky we had reservations. Food options included classic german staples plus a whole hog roast that they were having special that night. Really good german beer selection. Overall a great place. Our waiter was a little rude and slow on getting us drinks, but I've got to give him a break, because the place was packed and busy. A good stop for dinner, but I'd probably choose Resi's over Laschet's if I was solely out for drinks.

Previous Rating: I stopped by this German place while doing a German pubcrawl through North Chicago. Nice selection of german beers, cool place.

I love Resi’s so wanted to come to the place just down the block. Similar style inside with a real cool old school customer feel, they all know each other. Old WW2 and German antiques line the walls, you could look at them for hours. Decent selection of German beers, but way to heavy on the pils, only 1 dark beer. The thing that separates this in the most negative way possible from Resi’s is the food. The food here just plain sucks. 1st of all the menu is so dumb downed American its sickening. Chicken tends, egg rolls and onion rings are just the tip of the iceberg of crap that shouldn’t be on this menu. Ignoring this I went for some staples of red cabbage and potato pancakes. The cabbage was great. The pancakes were a step above frozen ones I’d get at Jewel. They weren’t fresh or made there, just plain sad. This place should never be visited with Resi’s 100 feet away.

Laschet’s is a timeless German classic, one of few left when there were dozens of German places along Lincoln Ave. once upon a time. You come here for the hearty authentic food, old country ambiance, and German bier. They occasionally have seasonals no one else gets. The Saturday pork shank special is not to be missed. If you don’t eat when visiting Laschet’s, you’re doing it wrong. Prissy metro douchebags, stay far away. Laschet’s doesn’t have a GNR award from LTHforum without good reason. http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4089 Eat, drink, and be merry.

Laschet’s Inn is a nice German bar that serves excellent beers on draft. Their food has been better the past few years, but I am particularly interested in what they pour. Nice staff, fair pricing... I like!

I stopped by Laschet’s Inn after visiting Resi’s across the street. The beer selection is pretty similar, with a couple of different German taps. The place was crowded and the food looked pretty good, but I didn’t try any. I enjoyed my time here and I’ll likely be back.

Very cool German pub in North Chicago. A pretty decent selection of German beer on tap and great food.

What can I say but this place is awesome. It is one of the great Chicago neighborhood bars and it is also a top German beer destination and it also has crazy good German food. The owners are in there hanging out all the time and are a very nice couple. SEEK this place out

This is a nice place to get German food and a beer but it’s not really going to excite the beer geeks out their as far as beer selection. It is all German and stuff that is for the most part easy to find in bottles. To me, it is nice to try some of these beers in something close to their native context. There is something special about sitting back and enjoying a full liter of lager w/ some very good German food. There are very few places besides here and Resi’s in town who have a selection of this type of beer and can move it fast enough that it is consistently fresh. Worth a trip for the food and to relax but not at all the place to go to if you are in from out of town and looking to wrack up some ratings of beers you can’t get elsewhere, even if they will taste better here than anywhere else. Oh, and don’t leave this place, w/o trying a pretzel.

As authentic German as you can score in Chicago. Great German selection, always try a pretzel (puts most to absolute shame) and get the rouladen.
