I had opportunity in December 2006 to visit place due to work party. The premises are quite nice in the Keller ie. basement pub restaurant, lots of details. Beer selection was not that special. Pils, Weizen and some dark beer. Food was fantastic, but it was also for free ;)
A place to go for food and/or beer and fun.
Food is really good ... good german food! Beer is ace! Not a lot of selection but why selection... the places brews itself and that is to be tested, indulged and appreciated. It can be crowded and service at those times a bit slow and picky but with a good sense of german humour a great time!!!
It is worth coming here just to avoid the typical north German Pilsner that is all you can find at most places. It is a bit touristy, but can be a lot of fun in a group. I found the beers to be quite good. The pilsner actually has some agggresive hops and alcohol.
This place is HUGE! It’s like five or six rooms into the basement, it’s like it never stops! Even though it’s this big, it has a lot of people without getting crowded, or so it was this Saturday when I visited at least. One or two beers on tap, I had a one liter glass of pilsner and their schweinshaxe, and what a great meal! Very tasty and SO MUCH FOOD! Not suitable for tickers, perfect for German culture lovers.

A huge cellar bar, wooden floors, bare brick walls and beer garden like furniture. We visited on a murky November evening and the place was packed, with a noisy, almost party like atmosphere. We were shown to our table and the server came over with the menu. I chose the 2 beers available to try and we had a ’Fischteller’ to share, then went to the buffet for some ’Spießbraten mit bratkartoffeln’. The beers came, both were perfectly drinkable. The food was outstanding, typically German, very tasty and the ideal partner to the beer. The bill wasn’t too bad either. Not a beer ticker’s paradise, but well worth a visit for the food and atmosphere.
First appearance is awesome. Dark underground cellars with plenty of copper tanks, wooden barrels and stuffed animals. Selection is poor, unless you prefer pork legs :) Service is average, prices are acceptable, seems good place for having parties...
Cellar bar, long and narrow as you enter but widens out. Coppers on display. Sat at stools near the bar with converted barrels for tables. Nice old traditional place. Beer is ok, again wouldn’t rush back after trying the beer.
