April 2013. I knew I should’ve brought a couple growlers on vacation. The 16 taps in this place looked fun and featured some otherwise unavailable regionals, but I didn’t want to buy another growler ... I have enough already. So I still managed to drop $90 on single bottles with a smattering of some southern finds not otherwise available in my hometown. The staff was friendly and clearly beer-nerd-ish. Definitely the place ot check for beers on the island.
Visited midday to grab some beers for the Hilton Head vacation. Most of the beer is stored warm on shelves on both sides of the narrow store. Small fridge up front, and the growler fill bar in the back. Unfortunately, the draft beer is for growler fills only, no pints while you shop (assume this is local law, people running this seem like they would do this if they could). Selection was solid, single was pretty broad, a good selection of local beers. I picked up a Boon Gueze, Westbrook IPA and White Thai and a bunch of Palmetto singles. Easily the best beer store I visited on the Island.
76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
A little hard to find the first time, but well worth the effort. Terrific selection of Belgians (big and small bottles), larger scale craft brewers, and tons of regional (SC, NC) brews available in bottles. Good tap selection for take-out, but they don’t serve pints ... just tiny tastes to decide what to fill the growler with. Reasonable pricing (at least compared to PA!) and a good turnover of merchandise. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely shop here every time I come down. Best bottle selection on the island.
Friendly service if you are used to abuse akin to that in Gran Turino with Clint Eastwood, somewhat dry humor. Based on the reviews I read, I expected more - thanks guys... Music was late 80’s metal and hard rock. Wednesdays 4-6 has free beer tastings - limit 3. Great value. Got 4 12oz bottles, two bombers and a growler filled for $35.
Located about three shops down from a grocery store. Really cool little shop with a myriad of bottles to choose from and a row of taps in the back that provided various-sized growler fills. Lots of southern brews to chose from that we don’t get on the west coast. Loved this place!
Solid selection especially for Hilton Head. The growler station is nice and free samples on Wednesday is even better. I think everything was better two years ago, but this is still my first beer stop on the island.
I visited here last summer on a family vacation. Best place on the island to buy craft beer. Hands down.
Located in a strip mall next to a grocery store. The owner also owned the wine shop a couple doors down. So we were able to pick up some wine for the wine drinkers and I got some great craft beer. A handful of taps that the workers are more than happy to let you sample if you like. Hundreds of bottles to choose from. There wasn’t anything crazy on tap. I was just happy to be able to get some out of market beer to enjoy throughout the week.
I even went back to share a Hoppin Frog BORIS Royale since they seemed interested. So I enjoyed the place and was happy to share a couple pints here with family and the nice employees at this fine establishment.
This place was GREAT! In a little strip mall next to a Piggly Wiggly... they have about 10 taps, all craft, all wonderful. I was there in May and they had BA Peoples Porter, some Coast stuff... its a must see if you are in the area.
Was here last summer--relatively small but quality selection with an INCREDIBLE amount of regional stuff. It’s a little pricy so here’s my suggestion: take the short walk to the Piggly Wiggly (which has a damned good selection for a supermarket) that’s practically next door for the more common regionals, then get the seasonals and specials from Growlers.
