We were in Portland for less than a day recently and only had time for one or two stops, so we came here. A pretty standard brewpub setup with bar, tables, and outdoor seating options. A decent menu with very tasty food options. I created a flight of four and was impressed with each one. They even have guest cider, if you are into that sort of thing. They have a decent vintage bottle list, as well. No a/c, so it was warm inside when we were there on a 90-degree day. Good service. I could spend all day drinking here.

In a bit after 7 on the first Wednesday in July 2017. Small amount of people, so not empty, but not crowded either. Bar seats about 15-20, but we grab a table nearby amongs the seating that sits at least another 60 or so. Beer list is nice, featuring some classics from HotD, as well as some things you’d never peg them for. Beers are available in a modest 3oz pour for a reasonable price, as well as a 12 ounce for an even better price. Assuming you live here and can come regularly. If you’re from out of town and actually want to try things at more breweries without dying a horrible death in the middle of a crosswalk as some kind driver yielded to you crossing the street while you died from over consumption…
Beers here are great, but they are definitely not easy drinking and ready for you to session them all night long. Smallest ABV on the menu was 6%, and of the 12 beers on tap a third were 9% or higher. We split some deviled eggs and a bread and butter plate, both of which were pretty cheap, and both tasty.
If you’re from out of town, you’re coming here anyway, as it’s one of the top spots. But be prepared, and be aware if you’re intending (which you hopefully are) to go to some other places, so you can plan ahead for your sobriety.

I don’t know what I expected but this was what I expected ... no problems finding a seat at the bar. Stopped by later during the week. Nice tap list and nice bottle list. If this place was close to my house, I’d be there all the time.

Visited March 2017. Bright, comfortable space with high ceilings and a large 3-sided bar. Tap offerings were relatively modest in number, but there was also a large vintage list that included Dave for a cool $1500. HotD brews some really interesting stuff that doesn’t always hit the mark, but is certainly never boring. Small pour sizes are available at reasonable prices, making this place fairly ticker friendly. Overall, a bucket-list destination that doesn’t disappoint.

Visited around lunchtime on a sunny wednesday. Attractive spacious interior, we sat at the bar. Selection consists of a relatively modest but thoughtful selection of beers from draft, a couple of specials and a small menu of interesting bottles. Had a wonderful IIPA and pours of two impressive Barley Wines, as well as a nice lunch. We really enjoyed the vibe here, this was one of the highlights of our Portland visits.

This was a must stop for me. Very laid back on a Wed night. Good service though I had to ask about things not on the menu. Lucked out and got a bottle of Maja. Pickles were good.

One of Portland’s best. Small, well curated selection. Nothing bad here. Nice low key vibe.. A lot less crowded than I would expect on a Thursday.

Fantastic place, very impressive vintage collection which I had to try before leaving them. Prepare money before you go there, so worth it.
