Oh yeah, I heard some fantastic things about this place but never did I imagine it would be so perfect. I was visting my wife’s family in NY they live in Larchmont, NY and I thought close enough from what I heard I had to go. I drove techinically 200 miles but in reality 60 miles from my wife’s cousins house. Half Time is so easy to get to basically a straight drive off rt 9.
As I entered Half Time my mouth dropped I had never been to a place this big soley dedicated to brew. As you walk in you see they’ve divided the place up US craft brew/UK/Belgium/Scotland/Imports(canada,thailand,etc).
I found so many beers I couldn’t get normally and for great prices. They also have about 12 beers on tap (rotating offering) to take 10oz samples or 1/2 gal. growlers which is fantastic. They also have everything warm they have cold, yes! I could write all day about this place but just know that if your in the area aka 60miles or so GO! Go now!
By far, this place has the largest selection of beers i have ever seen. They are meticulously arranged by country in diagonal rows. I found some styles I’ve been seeking for awhile, and found some sleepers in the fridge. They threw in 3 drafts for free. Great place, and worth the trip if you are within 3 hours away.
Awesome, Simply Awesome
That said, why is it so awesome. Easy if I was to open a beer store I would just copy this one.
The huge store only has beer, a great start. It had aisles of beer. The first I went through had all American Micros, the second had all Belgian on one side and German’s on the other, the third had 4 or 5 other countries, another aisle had all seasonals.
Ok that was getting boring. They had kegs tapped for growlers, as variety of inexpensive glasswhere, blah, blah, blah.
My son is in college in Poughkeepsie, so each time I go up I will make a stop to restock my fridge with beers I can’t find anywhere near my home.
If your in the areas, I would suggest you check it out.

The only reason you can go to Poughkeepsie is for Half Time. The only reason you go to Half Time is for the selection of high-quality brews. And, man, do they deliver!! I have to pause for a few seconds in fear of hyperventilating at the first sight of tons of brews I had dreamed of getting. Easily the best store I’ve been to north of New York City, including all of New England. Crew is very helpful too and generous. A MUST stop!
I’ve come back a few times now and everything is just perfect I think. Selection is still the best I’ve ever seen, service is very friendly and accommodating, presentation on the shelves is as orderly and clean as possible, the whole room seems to be cooled for the pleasure and conditioning of the beers on the shelves, etc. Simply put : the Perfect Beer Store.
By the way, there is a restaurant right next door now, called Crew, which serves pretty good meals with a dozen interesting taps and 40 bottles or so. Great if you got hungry shopping next door!
A great place. Unbelieveable selection of american microbrews, belgians and german brews (there is more varity in the german shelf than I ever saw in a store in Germany. A wide selection of other foreign beers. Now new with shelftags from ratebeer - which helped with making decisions what to buy - it is just so overwhelming. Super nice selection of Beers on tap which varies nearly every week. The staff knows its business and every single one is very helpfull. I even got a great bottle of Dogfish Head Raison D’Extra presented what was really nice. Therefor and the great selection I have to come back and bring a rare German beer they don’t have - it will be tough!
What a trip i took to go see this place my first time, but it was well worth it. Bring’s you back to the old school day’s of being a kid in a candy store. Huge selection of Belgians and Micros, as well as some English Ale’s, and just about anything you can think off. I have talked with many people about this place, that seem to think it’s over ratted but it’s not. Great selection, Good prices, Some knowledgable staff, and most importantly it is stored and maintain in excellant condition. The restaurant two stores down is also worth cheking out,
One of the best selections I’ve seen: Southampton, Heavyweight, Stone, DFH, HOTD, Rogue, Avery, Weyerbacher; tons of Belgian, German, Polish, English and Scottish brews. Friendly staff... gave me a tap on the house when I told them I drove forty miles to see them. RERATE: met the owner today, Alan Daniels. Incredibly nice guy. We talked for quite a while. They’re doing a great job and I hope they keep it up!
