This place is outstanding. The selection is great, you can get anything they carry as a single, they have growler fills, tons of stuff cold, and itís clean and well organized. Now what more could you ask from a beer store?
The staff let me roam around unaided, as they could probably tell from the selection in my cart I knew what I was doing. I was asked once if I needed any help with anything, and they had plenty of staff available if I needed them.
The tap selection for growler fills was nice (Southampton Saison & Aventinus Eisbock, among others).
One of the staff (manager or owner?) knew it would take a bit of time to cash me out, so he came over to assist with any price checks, and to just talk to me a bit about beer in general. He had a Stone Imperial Stout shirt on, so that scores points in my book too!
Even though the prices are great, be prepared to spend a lot of money in here! They threw in a couple glasses as well! A great touch!
The only bad thing about this store is that it isnít closer to me...
I drive 50 miles from Westchester County to shop here several times a year. Their bottle selection is outstanding (sure, there are a few important breweries missing but why quibble) and their keg selection is not to be believed. I recently wanted a keg and asked if they had any Avery and they said, "which one, we have them all, in multiple sizes". Very friendly owner and knowledgeable staff. Well worth the trip from, well, anywhere!
First visit today and I will surely be back soon despite the 50 mile drive. I could spend an hour wandering around this immaculate, well-lit place without handling the same brand twice. Very professionally run, yet friendly store. By the bottle or pack, the selection is impressive. If you are in the area, you owe it to yourself to stop by.
One day on the way back to New Paltz from the Galleria I stopped in to see what all the fuss was about...turns out I discovered a full-on beer supermarket!! Absolutely massive selection from all over the world, and the only place around that carries Schlenkerla Rachbier. Prices are a bit high but you canít beat the selection.
this is my place, i love halftime. they have everything and many good beers on tap to sample in a 10 oz bottle or a growler. Many US Micros and everything else. the GREATEST thing about it is you can mix and match any beer you want to make custom six packs. Awesome place . the employees are very helpful and knowelegable. Best place ive been to. mabey if you are lucky you will see me and spkldhenlvr24 wandering around in awe.
Here in Sullivan County, we do not have a decent beer store. So, walking into Half Time the selection was just awesome. Well worth the forty mile trip. I spent over a hundred bucks picking out four packs and six packs of each of my favorites, and single bottles of things that looked interesting. The staff is helpful and friendly. They gave me a free glass, I picked the goblet type for drinking higher alcohol content beers. As far as prices, I thought they were reasonable. Iím looking forward to my next visit.
Stumbled across this place entirely by accident while vacationing upstate in October. Thought it was some kind of sports bar the first time I passed it, then got a closer look at its sign going the other way and had to check it out. All I can say is WOW, I would love if they opened a second location here on Long Island. Tons of rare brews I havenít been able to find down here, and we have a few good distributors of our own. Half Time must have expanded their selection since the summer as they had several of the brands that others said were missing (Southern Tier, Great Divide, DFH... dunno about the others). Suffice it to say Iíll be stopping at Half Time whenever Iím within an hour radius of PK for sure!
Phenomenal selection, coming from Ann Arbor out to school in Poughkeepsie, there simply was no place to with even a decent range of beers. I've been in heaven since Half Time opened. It has one of the widest arrays of beer I've come across and the staff, particularly the owner, are some of the most well-informed I've ever known.
Great selection of US Craft Beers which is what I tend to stick with. Anytime I can find beers fom Alaska Iím happy. And they have a selection of Midnight Sun Beers. Make sure you check behind the counter. That is where they keep some of the rarer beers.
This place never ceases to amaze me with their vast selection of beers, both in bottles and cans and on tap. This is the first place I have rated, so Iím not sure what the ambiance should be for a beer store. It is clean, well organized and well stocked with over 1,000 different varieties. The people are friendly and the stock is fresh. My only complaint is the price. I thought their prices would drop as they got more customers, however that never transpired.
