This is a fun German themed brew pub. They had a dozen of their own beers on tap is a wide variety of styles. They also have a full bar and some other beers. They have a full menu of German food. They have a nice outdoor patio. Service at the bar was great. Fun place to visit in the Ohio City area.

This area by the clocktower is a pretty happening beer scene. I found free street parking a block off 25th, but there are lots around as well. Hansa was a short walk from Great Lakes. It is a bit off the scene; a Wendys is two blocks away, but still very close. They were having a college reunion thing when I was there, which made it packed, but I still found a spot at the bar. The inside is fairly small, but there is also an outdoor patio to spread out in. They had about 10 beers on tap, with a heavy emphasis on German styles - appreciated because not a lot of new micros in the US choose to specialize in German beers. Service was excellent considering how busy they were.

I ordered a fight of the German style beers first, and I was quite impressed. They are top tier in multiple categories. The only German style I tried that I was not high on was the Oktoberfest, actually.

Hell, they had a Gratzer on, and their house beer is a Lichtenhainer. Tell me another place where that is true!

I was impressed enough that I ordered a second flight, this time delving into some of their non-German beers. Not a great plan. These guys know how to make German beers - I recommend you stick with that on your visit and you will be happy.

Visited on a Saturday later in the afternoon. It is very close to the brewery district in Cleveland (i.e. close to Great Lakes). Street parking or garage parking is around. Some parking lots are here, too. Mostly free. They have a large outside patio as well as a big inside seating area. A long bar capable of seating 20 or so. The draft list was predominantly German styles, but unfortunately they delved into a few American styles. The food menu was an interesting mix of German and American food. Not really reminiscent of the places I visited in Germany, but what you would think of for an American German place, anyhow. The quality of all the German style beers was excellent. I really enjoyed my time here, and would visit again when next in the area.

Visited on 4-1-17....Stopped by here on our down to Platform. Located about 2 blocks from Great Lakes, had a traditional German theme about it, even though the beers didn’t fit the traditional German profile...not a knock on the place....Food was great, service was decent, beer was average or good from what I had.
