Visited during a crawl of some Tacoma breweries. Harmon Tap Room happened to open the earliest. Cool space with a nice patio out back. Quite a view from outside in this part of town too, so in a little warmer weather, this would be a fantastic patio to enjoy. Spent the first hour here enjoying some of the 15 different house beers on tap, before realizing they had an entire game room with arcade, and tournament pool tables in the back. Very cool place to hang out and enjoy a beer, and spend some time hanging out. Fun styles of beer on tap, and about 5 guest taps on as well, and the cider, which it seems like everybody has on these days. Great happy hour prices on both food and beer. If you buy lunch, they will give you a pint of flagship beer for $2. Moderately busy, and even though there was only one person working the bar for the entire place, service was quick and friendly. Six 12 oz bottles available to go, and only one of them was featured on tap, so the variety of different beers at this stop was huge. Very fun place here. If I lived in Tacoma, this would definitely be my hangout spot.

Visited on 7th November 2014. After negotiating the hill up from Pacific I needed a beer. 2 roomed venue, front was busy and we headed out back near to the kitchen where it was quiet. Decent beer range with seasonals and flights available. Beers decent enough. Food was decent enough and value was OK. Good venue.

Visited on Friday 7th November at 10.15pm. We walked up a steepish hill from Pacific Brewing & Malting - approx 10 minutes. The front room was full but we headed right and around to the back room by the open kitchen which only had 3 other customers in it. Pretty sparce and basic decor large screen showing sports channels, the front room had more character. 8 beers on tap, 5 regular, 3 seasonal - all own beers. Tasters are for 6 beers you choose. Beer quality was fine, averageing 3.3 on my rates here, Defiance IPA probably the pick of the bunch. Service was prompt and efficient. We eat here as we had been on the go for some 24 hours at this point (having flown in from the UK that afternoon). Wasn’t overly impressed with the food, Pizza and fries OK, Tacos pretty poor - microwave fodder. Decent enough venue, probably the best we came across in Tacoma.

Up on the hill this place is decent sized with a big back room for more comfortable seating and a huge screen for sports. Service was pretty good and well versed in beer. Selection was their own and ranges from passable to pretty decent. Imaginative, but not necessarily good. Food was good and prices were great. Overall there is nothing really great about anything here but it is good all around.

Great new Tap room right next to the new brewery. Food is a great selection and it is right below the Hub a great place. Love the beer, food and atmosphere.

The front half of the Harmon is big and open and lacking in atmosphere. As you walk into the back you pass the kitchen on the right (dunno how a lot of foot traffic affects kitchen sanitation?) and the brewing area on the left. The back is much better, with tables, couches, pool tables, pinball and several TVs. The selection consists of Harmon beers only, usually 7-8 regulars and 1-2 seasonals. The seasonals have impressed me but the regulars are fairly run of the mill. There are often specials on food and drink, including 50% off your tab on Sundays, making the Harmon Tap Room one of the best values in Tacoma. Food is a cut above the usual pub grub, some of the pizzas being the standouts. Service is unbelievably good and consistent, again one of the best in Tacoma, even as a non-regular.
