The place looks nice, but is too crowded and touristy. They only serve 1 beer, their Inselhopf, so I don't know why this is on here. The beer was ok though. The service below average. Not really worth a visit.
Visited on 16th July 2016. We hit town in the middle of a classical music festival so everywhere was heaving. Managed to get a table across the road from the brewpub in the beer garden. Only 1 beer on tap plus the food was pretty light with sausages and salads on. Main venue across the street has a better food range.
Beer was decent enough, drank it and left in search of a better dinner. Prices OK and service decent. Worth a pop in for a rate but not the best in town.
Freiburg’s 2nd Hausbrauerei in front of my doorstep. They brew their delicious unfiltered sweetish Keller Inselhopf at near-exclusive capacity, with only one seasonal (Märzen or Dunkel Brunhilde). Beautiful Biergarten atmosphere is cancelled out by the modern inside interior, somewhat clinical despite the copper brewing kettles. Food is basic, regular Badian fare with no real standout signature dishes.
To all RB’ers passing through Freiburg, especially in Biergarten season: do not hesitate to get in contact, as I live 2 steps away and am often up for a drink & BE bottle share/trade.
Place with two floors. I sat at the bar and had very fast service. I had a connecting train, so I was glad to have an efficient bartender. No real selection, but the Inselhopf is a very good pilsner. Nice place to visit if you are in Freiburg.
