Well, certainly in the middle of nowhere, but worth the trip... Selection is what you expect. Staff is efficient rather than necessarily friendly. Loads of rules but I guess it has to be that way. Will be interesting to see what happens once their new tasting room is finished.

This is a very difficult place to rate. Obviously it is in the middle of nowhere, so if you are going here you are going to want to stock up. We waited in the growler line for about an hour, which wasnít too bad, and seems to be on the shorter side of average from the people I talked to who had been before. About halfway through the line they started offering us a sampler, which made the rest of the wait go a little faster. Weird growler rules (no 32s/1 Ls). No clear glass bottles. Etc. Etc. I feel like they could really use a person near the entrance explaining the system, because all the people there were confused (including us). Once you got up to the ordering part it seemed well enough organized with the filling, but before that it was quite a cluster. Probably worth a visit if you have the time and are within an hour of the place, but just be prepared to stand around waiting and be confused.

After over two years since my last visit, I decided to try the growler line at Hill Farmstead again. Iím not a fan of waiting in line for anything, even beer. Things are gotten a little better, Iím no longer standing outside on gravel but the organization isnít any better. They really should have three clearly roped off lines labeling each lane, ďGrowler fills, Tasters and Bottles onlyĒ Right now what happens is 50 people stand in one big cluster around the counter. It appears nearly everybody I talk to in line has never been to this brewery and they are completely clueless as to what is happing. The new ordering ticket that you are supposed to fill out before you get to the counter and clearly marks what you want to order is a great idea. However, if the order forms are not out in front of clearly marked lanes it doesnít make a difference because people donít know them or people want to cut in front of the line. Maybe things will continue to improve once the new facility is completely finished.

Thought it was hard to find as all of the locals were telling me to turn on Taylor Road from Rt 16. Wrong, coming from the South, you turn left on Sparhawk Road. Taylor Road is further back on the dirt roads. Makes me wonder if they really wanted me there at all. Well anyways, despite a semi-crowded atmosphere, the staff seemed to be spot on as far as getting the beers to everyone within a reasonable amount of time. The ambiance didnít bother me, its in a farm, big deal, respect to the brewer Sean Hill for claiming his "manifest destiny" / his dream of building a brewery right on the land where he grew up. And thanks to his aunt Sharon for getting me there, though she did say his beers are expensive. Me, well, for what it is, I saw no problem in paying what I needed to pay for what I wanted. Iíd definitely go back.

First of all our GPS really didnít wanít to go here and send us on a few detours untill we just ignored it. I really wanít to like this place but itís kind of hard. The whole setup seems boondodgle and could be so much more efficient. The beers are fantastic no question about it, but iím not sure itís worth the long drive and hassle to get there.

Located way out in the countryside, even our satnav couldnít get it right, but we got there after a few detours. Obviously state laws make it difficult to run a place like this, and I sure wasnít expecting all this registration and limitation crap we met. But no hard feelings, when we finally got the samples going, we got more cheerful. The tap selection when we visited were a bit one-tracked, mostly PAís and IPAís, the bottle selection more diverse. Guess this is changing all the time. Even though the beers are ranging from lovely to fantastic, Iím not sure if itís worth the long ride to get here. But it gave us an excuse to go to Canada, so weíre fine.

Arrived on Cherry Flora and Lou Pepe Kriek day, and things ran nice and smooth. Opened up a half hour early for those that were waiting outside prior to opening. Really nice people, good organization. It does take a while to fill so many growlers, but they let you do a cheap tasting while you wait. Overall a really great experience, and I left with a much lighter wallet.

Maybe I just got lucky, but the day I was there the lines were not bad at all. From what I heard the wait for growlers was the longest, but I was just there to try some tasters, enjoy the beautiful day sitting at the outdoor picnic tables, and take home a few bottles, and all went quickly and smoothly. And of course the beer was great. Glad I made the pilgrimage - it was an enjoyable side trip during my Vermont vacation.

A beautiful drive from Montreal, quite easy to find compared to what iíve heard. I arrived mid afternoon and there were only about 4 purchases in front of me. Made my purchase and ordered my taster, so i figured we should be out in an hour or so. No. Extremely slow growler filling. This particular time they had ~8 growler options so I think a lot of people were getting them, but my god....so slow. The employees were all extremely friendly and helpful and iím sure have to deal with a lot of garbage. A nice place, i wish the tasting room has been open.

Got to check this one off the bucket list. The place isnít as exciting as the beer. Getting there was fun. Gravel parking area. You walk into a wooden building with an open room and concrete floors. Wait in one and buy samples. The line tastes some time but itís no biggie because youíre drinking awesome beers. Our selection was all hoppy stuff except for Earl. Would have liked to have a saison thrown in the mix. No bottles available when we were there. Still worth the trip. The beer is amazing.

Made the long road trip from Columbus, Ohio to Hill Farmstead - with a layover in Rochester NY, to stay with another RBian (who joined me on the trip to VT). The roads to get here - once your off the highway, are horrible...especially when wet, in our case. Multiple parking sections near the brewery. We arrived a little early on a wed. - 4th and 5th in line. Soon we were being served flights from the draft - 2oz pours...a nice touch while waiting. Staff was incredibly nice, personable, and into the work they were doing. I could see the process of waiting, placing and receiving orders to take quit sometime if more people were there. It took us 45min. in all. Ambiance - sure your in a beautiful outside environment, but all your really experiencing is a gravel parking lot, and an open room with cement floors and walls - with a couple of registers, taps, and cases of bottles. Selection of course is great for HF beers, but thatís about it, and it was either IPA or saison. Also available were 2 bottles of Crooked Stave. Value was excellent, "normal" to below "normal" growler fill prices, and 750 ml bottles were $10 and $13. Overall, an enjoyable experience. If HF were more widely available, I would probably never go back....but since it is not, I would definitely return, maybe in a year or 2.
