Another apartement type/style pub/bar. Seeks to be some Finnish stuff. Small place. Friendly saff. Beerlist depends how many .fi beers have you had. All "popular at the moment" or new stuff is represented. I don’t get any real connection with this pub so all I can say is visit if you are in area. Otherwise naaah...
One of the fish-themed chain-pubs in Helsinki, a bit off the center of the city. Has a similar selection to all the other ones in the chain, but can have something more special at times. Gets crowded. Bar snacks. Located in an area of Helsinki known for their drunks and addicts, but they are unlikely to bother you here as the beers are a tad more expensive than at the near-by dives.
We were taken there as a part of the ISHA Helsinki Conference "Good Beer" pub crawl by a guy called Matti I reckon, from the academic beer group (something like that) at the Helsinki University (so a thanks to him for that :D). We got here by tram, not all that far from the station. Ok enough atmosphere, relatively quaint place, there was room for 9-10 of us but it wasn’t neither big nor empty. A very nice beer list, some stuff I haven’t seen anywhere else during my stay in Helsinki. Really enjoyed the Plevnan Mokka Porter and tried also the unimpressive Mallaskosken Vaalea Kuohu III on tap from a friend who wanted something cheap an pale (mmkay). Friendly service from what I can remember. One of many good places scattered around Helsinki!
Only 50-100m away from Sörnäinen metro station, tucked away up a side street round the corner away from the hustle and bustle. Tiny place, subdued lighting - great atmosphere. Beware the local coffee-drinkers though. Wonderfully friendly staff. Slightly more limited selection than the other fish pubs, but most of the classics. Still carried a StaPa beer in Oct 2008 - hoorah!
(Probably, I’m biased because I spend too much time in this pub.) Nice selection even though not all beers listed on the wall are always available. Friendly staff. At evenings it’s sometimes difficult to find a seat.
