I make a trip out to this store once a month. Its a quick ride from the metro area and has a excellent selection. Service can be down right bad sometimes and great at other times. But for proximity to the Twin Cities and selection this IS the spot.
Being from the Twin Cities, this liquor store is worth the drive. I can get so many different breweries that haven’t made their way across the border to MN such as Three Floyds, New Glarus, Stone, Dogfish Head, Smuttynose, etc. Service was excellent. I bought a bunch of 6’ers and singles and they gave me some boxes to put them in while shopping, then carted them outside for me and loaded them in my car. $166 later, I was on my way back to Minneapolis (only 30min drive from south metro). I plan on going again this weekend and stocking up again.
This is a great spot to try new beers. It is great largely because they have quite a large selection of beers you can choose from to make your own 6 pack, or just buy a beer individually. A great place, with people willing to contribute suggestions and a great selection.
Stopped in here on a road trip up to MN. Selection was decent and all of the bottles were very well organized and most were available in singles. I didn’t see anything I would consider ’rare’ for the Wisconsin area. Prices were a little high, but not too bad. I would visit again if I were in the area.
Always a must stop for me when I’m in the cities as MN doesn’t carry New Glarus, Founders or Stone. Just a fantastic selection of those breweries along with a ton of others like Dogfish Head...and stuff I can’t think of now. The service is iffy, sometimes its good and sometimes I’m completely ignored. Also kind of a strange set up but can’t beat this selection of brews in WI near the cities.
Awesome. This place is a MUST stop if you’re traveling past Hudson on I-94. Just a mile or so off of I-94, not hard to get to. Just a laid back kind of place. The staff minds their own business, but is generally friendly. Selection is.....nothing short of amazing. Pretty much every awesome micro they carry is also available in singles, which makes it even cooler. At any given time, they will have a full selection of New Glarus, Oskar Blues, Bells, Founders, Dark Horse, Stone, Southern Tier, Two Brothers, pretty much all of the great beers you can find in this area except Surly in a one stop shop. If you’re in the area take 10 minutes to stop by, you won’t be disappointed! Every time the girlfriend and I go past Hudson we stop here, even though we only live 20 mins away! Open 7 days a week for your convenience.
I was very pleased with the service last night. We ended up talking beer for quite a while. It’s always fun to going to a beer store and having conversations with knowledgeable people. Great beer selection including Stone, Founders, New Glarus, Dogfish Head, all the heavy hitters that you can’t get at MN bottle shops. I will definitely be back and is the best in Hudson.

This is the place to go if you’re looking for small Wisconsin craft beers (like New Glarus) and you’re coming from the Twin Cities. Unlike Minnesota liquor stores, they’re open on Sunday. I was able to find pretty much everything I was looking for, and since I bought a case of different styles of New Glarus beer, I received a free New Glarus glass as an extra. The store is a bit dark and gloomy, since the building it’s in is an old one and part of it is devoted to a restaurant and wine bar (closed on Sundays). I wasn’t really able to gauge the level of service, since I knew what I was looking for and went right to it. Selection was good, with an extensive make-your-own-six pack area with a wide variety of single bottles. I was on a New Glarus expedition and was very happy with what I found, so can’t really speak to the selection beyond this (though I also found South Shore Brewery’s Nut Brown Ale from Ashland, WI). Prices might have been a bit high, but I was pleased overall with my experience.
**Update: 3/5/2011: first time I’ve gone there looking for beer other than New Glarus and was very pleasantly surprised by what I found. Three Floyds was on my list and I found not one, not two, but 7 current beers from that brewery (though not the Dreadnaught I was specifically looking for, unfortunately). I spent a lot more than I was anticipating.
Was kind of hard to find someone to help...nice cooler selection of beers....Stone, Founders, New Glarus, DFH, all the heavy hitters that you can’t get at MN bottle shops. WIll definitely be back and is the best in Hudson. Hopefully they expand their singles.
