Plenty of free dedicated parking in a newer section of town. Great beer hall ambiance. Beer selection is house brews. The food was excellent. I had the lunch buffet for $11.99, which is a little high. Service was average. The salad, potato soup, wienersnitzel, and sausages were all good. Fun place, I enjoyed my visit.

Free parking garage next to restaurant. I went right when they opened for lunch so nobody was there and had a personal bartender so can’t say anything negative about that (obviously wouldn’t expect that all the time). Nice place for a little slice of Germany - not quite as authentic as Newport one. No surprises - pleasant place.

Been to locations in Newport, KY and Pittsburgh (someday Munchen, someday!) Was thrilled to hear we were getting one in C-Bus. Great Deutsche bier hall atmosphere. Not a huge beer list, but authentic styles straight out of the original Hofbrauhaus recipe book. Food is great (although the sauerkraut can be creamy and weird.) My mom is from der Vaterland and she approves of the cuisine, so it must be good. The Bauernschnitzel is incredibly amazing. Whatever you order, make sure their beer cheese is somehow involved. Live music most nights. It was a hell of a fun party a couple Fridays ago. If you’re in a crappy mood, go here! Very hard not to smile and laugh until you can no longer feel your face muscles. Liters of beer might have something to do with that too.

Went here on a crowded Saturday night with a group of eight. Wait lasted about an hour, and although the have a large bar, we were still standing next to tables where people are eating...which was not by choice. Beer was limited pretty much to their beer, and it was average. Staff was great, and our waitress was solid. Food was okay, and somewhat pricey. Overall, a nice addition to an area close to my house. Will venture out there again - with a large party only, though.

As the Hofbrauhaus chain expands, they get more typical. This is a nice, modern room made to look a little Bavarian. Big bar with lots of wait staff dressed in the cleavage-enhancing stereotype of German beer wench. The beers are standard and well made if not interesting. The food is standard if a little pricey for German fare. As Dogbrick said, Schmidt’s is better for a German style experience in Columbus. Parking is easier here though...

Columbus’ Hofbrauhaus is located in Grandview Yards on Goodale Blvd just a minute off 315. There is a parking lot and a garage right next to the building.

The building features a biergarten outside, as well as large fermenters with the Hofrbrauhaus logo. Inside the large wooden doors open to the host stand and there is a gift shop to the left. Beyond that is the bar and the traditional communal tables taking up the rest of the main room. Traditional Hofbrauhaus decor including German flags, a stage for the oompa bands, and the brewing equipment behind the bar. More Americanized touches include large TVs.

The beer selection at this location mirrors that of the others I have visited. The standard 4 selections (Light, Premium Lager, Hefe and Dunkel) plus a monthly seasonal which was the Weihnachtsbier on my visit. the quality of the beer is consistent with the other locations, in other words nothing memorable.

Service on a busy (and they are always busy) Friday brunch was decent. The server checked in periodically and was friendly.

Food at Hofbrauhaus is expensive, including the lunch buffet. It is decent fare but in my opinion doesn’t equal Schmidt’s.

All in all this is a destination-type restaurant and brewpub where you’re going more for the overall experience than for the beer alone.

Stopped by here on a monday night. Wrote a longer review, but I accidentally hit the back button so I’m rewriting it now. My benchmark is Hofbrau Newport, so keep that in mind. Inside, it’s just about the same, but less smokey because they don’t allow smoking in Ohio yet, unlike Kentucky. Maybe a bit smaller. The biergarten looked like it was still under construction. Live music, as typical, but I was particularly impressed with the solo guy on accordian during my visit, seemed like he really enjoyed himself. On tap is the typical Hefe, Lager, Light Lager, and Dunkel that every American Hofbrau has (as far as I’m aware), but they were good if not slightly below par what I get at Hofbrau Newport. Didn’t try the food, but it all looked overpriced (median price was something like $14 ... not going to pay that much for knock-off german food when I can get a delicious Columbus gyro on the street for like $5 max). 1/2 liters were $5.35 a piece, though, which was pretty reasonable. I originally came here to meet friends, and overall... I would do it again. That’s all a local hofbrauhaus is ever good for. Meeting up with old friends. They always satisfy for that reason.
