Visited on 21st April 2014. Huge beerhall in the centre of the City. It’s tourist central and is always heaving but is so vast you can always find a perch. There’s loads of nice touches with paintings and carvings, bands play oompah music in various parts of the venue.
Beer range is OK, do have seasonals advertised on cards on tables. Service is decent, prices steep but it is touristy. You should visit it once just to go there!
Great bier hall given the history and location. However once you get past the nostalgia the actual beer and food is just OK. The traditional pork knuckle and dunkel is a must have as well as lots of bread or pretzel. It is absolutely worth checking out for the atmosphere but not because it is amazing food or beverage. With that said, I will always revisit anytime I’m in Munich.

Place is just like you would think a classic German Bierhalle looks like. Was there on a Sunday afternoon and there was an orchestra playing music. A must visit when in Munich, but the atmosphere is better than the beer. I loved drinking a 1 liter dunkel though.
It is the Macchu Picchu of Munich, full of tourists because it is an historical place. The entry is a bit like a supermarket with the same automatical door and inside it is just beautiful with some traditionals painting and pieces of wood. You have almost all the time a great atmosphere but crowded and the service is designated for the mass people, I mean the waiters have to run all the time and they don’t really have the time to chat with you. It is a place to visit at least once even if you have better beers than the HB brewery.
A biiiiiig bierhalle in the most historic beerhauses of them all. Very nice inside and outside, you’ll find it where all the tourists are outside take some shots. Big, long wooden tableswhere you’ll sit with others, giving the Munioch feeling of beer and food joy alltogether. Of course, you will find just some HB beers, but some traditionally and tasty bavarian plates. Had also some dessert, Kaiserschmarrn and Apfelstrudel, very good. The prices are valuerable. You can get some merchandise too, if you want to buy them. Have to visit it at least once, not the best place in Munich IMO, but surely a nice one.
Great ambiance, very party-like. Service was about as slow as anywhere else I’ve been in Berlin or Munich. Selection was decent. Food was pretty good. Kind of expensive, but you kind of pay for the exerience, I guess. Visited in July 2015.
Visited a few years ago. Forgot to review. Yes, it is kind of a tourist haven for sure. Had always heard about it and wanted to visit. Was not sorry. Enjoyed the bands and the atmosphere. I would go again if in Munich.
