An institution, so a required visit on the trip to Portland. Definitely feels a little dated and perhaps even a little kitschy in terms of the decorations. But what the hell do I know.
We got there somewhat late on a Thursday night, so it wasn’t super crowded, but still a good number of folks drinking at the bar and a few tables throughout the space. Pretty sizable tap list. If you go around town, you’ll find a decent bit of overlap in the bar taplists, but these guys at least had some unique stuff. Beer quality and serving conditions were good.
I got an order of fish and chips (half) and that is probably more than enough for a normal person. Was pretty good. Not the best, but good. Service was decently quick, but certainly at a mellow pace.
They do halves and fulls of pretty much any beer. Prices are excellent (read: cheap) as well. What’s not to like about that?
Also, some nice graffiti in the men’s room: http://i.imgur.com/3XIdq7S.jpg
Real British pub feel, although I have never seen a real British pub with so many taps. Took a long time to choose for all the right reasons. So much good stuff available. Food was good too. Must visit again, and pretty close to Belmont Station.
I finally made it to the iconic Horse Brass. So many trips to Portland and I have never stopped in. Lots going on in this place. Almost every inch is covered with some sort of poster or beer something. Epic prices 10 oz pour of Abyss for $2.95 now that is what I am talking about.
I really dig the dark wood, low lights, and English pub-type atmosphere. Friendly hosts and service was excellent. Food was decent, but not recommended. Pretty good selection, but not like other stops in the City. I can imagine myself spending a lot of time here and being a local hangout if I lived in Portland.
SHITTERS: There is this weird circulating towel thing in the bathroom. I guess its to dry your hands? Area was kind-of dirty. Poopers not recommended. C-
Glad to have been here several times over the years. Started coming back in 2006 when Don was still around and hanging out/working. The place has an english pub feel and so much nicotine on the walls/wood that I think the smoke smell may almost be gone now. Pub food...if anything get a scotch egg. Always a solid line up of beers on although sometimes they can taste a little worst for wear. If never been, definitely worth a stop. Just not as good as other places in town these days.
A pretty awesome place.Sort of dingy, smells like a bucket of fish and chip. A solid lineup of beers. Good service. Very much a character place. Had quite a few uncommon locals. Very nice traditional English style interior and feel.
This is my kind of spot. All wood interior, feels like a European or Australian pub. The draft list focuses mostly on WA and OR beers. They allow for a couple tasters at a time so you can tick. I had some Boneyard but also had PtE. I asked the bartender to serve me some tasters of the good stuff and he knew what he was talking about, didn’t give me any crap. The prices are outstanding. This is a spot I would frequent often I lived here.

Visited December 10 2013. Bloomy place pretty far away from downtown. Unfortunately too fast visit but Youngers Special Bitter was worth of it. Revisiting March 2015. Food was typical English pub food.
