Fin (1149) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | March 22, 2011
Visited here 4-5 years ago. Large converted warehouse type building, smart and stylish. Beers were fine without being exceptional, considered visiting again on Friday 18th March 2011 but decided against it and went elsewhere.
Being a brew pub, you only get to taste the home made brews of course. An ok but a bit blunt blonde, an ok brown and a nice "Bangelijke", all served a bit too cold though, especially the Bangelijke with 9.5% ABV needs some warming up before releasing it’s full aroma and flavours. The food is very tasty. Nothing fancy, but honest good (brew) pub food at reasonable prices. Nice to drop by in the afternoon and install yourself at one of the tables with your newspaper or paperback. Very friendly waiting staff!
A rather industrial location, but in a rather different looking part of Antwerp. The beerkettles are wellvisible. Friendly service, and some of their beers were nice, while others quite mediocre. I did do lunch here, as I managed to miss the hotelbreakfast, due to heavy drinking with magicdave6 & Pauline the night before. Food was probably good, but I just didn’t like rabbit that much... Selection gets low, as it’s basically just three or four own beers pretty much.
The place is more for the crowds, although there weren’t one during our visit. Food cooked with beer was more interesting than the brews. Brewery is nicely visible, fun to follow the piping around the building. Did not like the smoke room, which is good to have it separate, but I’d just do away with it completely.
