Typical Wetherspoons refurbish job: they must spend some money doing up these old, often run down building. This old theatre has had the treatment and it looks well for it. Sadly the cask ale selection was lame and boring on my visit (4th July 2015). Only one new beer for me, the rest all national brands and well known beers too boot. Staff fine, it was mid-afternoon, so not too busy for them.

A fantastic theatre conversion using the building to full effect. It’s well decorated alongside the buildings own architectural magnificence and the addition of seating above the bar to overlook the pit area is somewhat inspired. Here there is also a rear patio area which could easily be missed by anyone not venturing up to the top level when they visit. Downstairs the bar stocks two rows of ales and the rest of the usual food and drink.

JDW pub 10 pumps but only five of them appeared to be on for real ale. Built in an old Theatre and cinema, some old features still present. Could do with more of a selection on tap.
