While there are a growing number of hole in the wall craft beer stores in Rome, Johnny’s is surely a destination location for its excellent selection, service, and centrality. As with many Italian bars and stores, the online menu does not generally reflect what is actually available. Johnny was very kind and offered us a few pours of a French saison he was promoting via keg, while we perused. I would have returned several times if not for a comparably excellent store being within even closer walking distance.
Very nice bottle shop, that has beer,s liquors an wine. The beers offered all both in fridge and at room temperature. It is possible to drink it right away, usually there is a small crowd outside enjoying their beers. The offered selection is of top brews from Italy and abroad, not too wide, but very well chosen. Great service and attention.
Fantastic bottleshop just outside the old city walls, close to the metro. Huge selection of Italian micros, shelves and fridges are packed. Wide array of European bottles as well. Great service, came up with some really good suggestions. No doubt, this is the best place to hunt for bottles in Rome.
I think definitely for me the best beer shop in Rome.John and Trevor are really great guys. They can suggest you something special and you can drink with them also at the spot.Nice selection and varirety of beers from all over the world. Also on other part of the store you can find some great wines and really great selection of whisky. My suggestion is to come here if you are in Rome.
Great bottleshop in central Rome. Very interesting selection of beer from around Europe and the world. Johnny is a great guy, knows what he has and can walk you through some of the more interesting selections in the shop. Lots of wine and whisky too, but I didn’t look too hard there. Great folks running the place, cool beers and pretty good prices. Must visit if looking for bottles.
A spacey bottle store with a well organized shelves divided to different regions of the beer world. There would have been a fair amount of items to purchase from this store but had to limit the selection due to lack of carrying reserve. There was a dedicated rare-expensive listed shelf also. The owner and other personnel were very professional, helpful and clearly experts at their field, some nice chat and samples provided with good buy suggestions. The owner even suggested other shops and pubs near by. This is the kind of beer store I would like to have at my neighborhood if ever possible.

One of the best beer stores I’ve ever seen and I was really sorry for visiting the place only at the last day of our vacation in Rome. The owner is more than helpful, talkative and competent, he really knows his job. He was so friendly he gave me a matured stout from Birra del Borgo made especially for Johnny’s off License. Huge selection, wide variety of craft beers from all over the world. It was also very cozy drinking the beers in front of the shop sitting next to the shop-window. Highly recommended!
