Located in the back of a nice old mansion over looking Grand Traverse Bay. Really nicely done place with lots of wood and a lodge-like feel. Nice combo of North Peak and Jolly Pumpking beers available on draft and in bottles. Interesting thoughtful menu and good service.
Absolutely beautiful location out of town on the old mission peninsula, drove from m37 down island view to peninsula drive and the view was stunning. The restaurant is a rustic lodge. Food excellent. The beer menu was half dozen JP beers same number of old mission brews, a couple north peak. Great beer and other adult beverage place, if you are looking for hard core JP tasting head to Dexter or Ann Arbor.
Hmm - came here to sample Jolly Pumpkin’s beers and was directed to a tasting room. Surprised to find they had spirits, wine, and beer from another brewery to sample, AND ONLY TWO BEERS FROM JOLLY PUMPKIN. Seriously? I was told there were an additional 2 on tap in the restaurant but even so, that just seems weird. The building was a historic hotel. Really cool.
Architecturally, one of the nicest brewpubs in MI. In terms of service: kind of a bummer bar experience; awesome table experience. From the drinker’s perspective, Jolly TC suffers the same fate of Jolly AA - shocking poor offerings of Jolly’s beers. And considering the distance, TC gets even less than AA. Food was incredible. An awesome place for a northern MI date.
Stopped in a couple times on the honeymoon, once for lunch and once for dinner. The menu is awesome: probably the best part about the place. The crabcake tots are friggin awesome. They have a fresh fish special daily, which is cool, too. Beer list is ok: mostly North Peak stuff on tap (8 or so) with maybe 3 or 4 JP beers. Got to try Oro de Calabaza on tap which was really good. Service is somewhere around benign indifference, but the atmosphere of the location and the actual building (the old Bowery with lots of woodwork) makes up for it. Mission Table wines and Civilized Spirits available, but they don’t really have any mixers so you can’t make a classic cocktail with their liquor unless you mix it with just a coke or tonic. Bummer, because I would’ve tried a manhattan or something with their whiskey. Anyway, a really cool spot. Tasting room next door with a perfect view of sunset over the bay. Worth it just for the food, even though they need more beer, especially more JP stuff on tap so you don’t have to buy a whole 750 ml bottle at dinner. We’ll be back, but make sure they give you your credit card back!
Place tucked away on the old mission peninsula, beautiful drive out there. I wish they took advantage of the amazing view. Rustic lodge looking with plenty of space. The menu looked good and had 2 appetizers which were great. Three Jolly Pumpkin beers on tap with all the normal North Peak stuff. Cozy place awesome beer great location. Server didn’t seem to know a whole lot about beer but nice enough.
Looks like an old lodge inside with wood everywhere. Plenty of tables on two floors plus a bar. Also has outside seating outside when weather is good. Beer list is Jolly Pumpkin’s and North Peak standard line up, ant that’s fine. Food is what makes this place really good... that and the outstanding service. Out of the way, but that only makes the visit better.
