Stoped by for a beer on a Saturday early evening. Wanted to grab some dinner but the place was unfortunately packed so we had to move on. Really nice building, located inside an old church. They have a nice selection of Jopen beers on tap as well as some special release bottles. Recommended.

We visited Haarlem and the Jopen brewpub on Monday 29th September 2014. The pub is a short walk approx 8-10 mins from the Grot Markt. It is housed rather impressively in an old church and behind gleaming brewing kit you can see beautuful stained glass windows. As we entered the part of the pub leading to the bar has a carpeted ceiling?, really not sure what that is all about. The bar is unmissable, there is a large row of taps and a list situated above and behind the bar, its an impressive selection. We had some food which sadly wasn’t as good as we’d hoped it would be, we had a burger each but sadly you could tell straightaway that these weren’t homemade, the chips were fine but again not a patch on those we’d had at the Troost brewpub a couple of days ago. We had two weaker beers, a Session IPA and a English Light Dinner Ale both fine but not that exciting. If everything matched the excellence of the venue this could be a brilliant place.
Beautiful place: copper brewkettles in a restored church. Nice selection of Jopen beers (but nothing else), with some aged and rare Jopen beers on bottles. Sadly, none of their beers are sold at Jopenkerk. Food-wise they’ve got pretty good pairing with their beers, but the food isn’t that good. The young waitresses don’t know a thing about the beers, but are friendly anyway.
(Visited Feb 2014) Huge bar and restaurant at the Jopen brewery. Modern bar with the brewery equipment behind the bar. Visited once in the afternoon, with lots of shoppers enjoying lunch or a beer, and later in the evening, mainly inhabited by young people on their way out. They had 12 different beers on tap, only Jopen beers on my visit, with some special offerings. Service was friendly and quite efficient, but can get slow when it’s crowded. Hardly cosy, but worth a visit for the Jopen beers.
The people is very friendly and the selection is basic their own beer but they have 12 taps with many styles. The ambiance is good and they have events on diferents dates. The food is nothing special but is Ok. Nice place, I will repeat on my next visit to Haarlem.
